Post Every Hand Revealed Book Review

Title: Every Hand Revealed
Author: Gus Hansen

The main reason to buy this book is to get an insight into the thought processes of one of the best tourney players in the world, while also learning about the differences between playing a full table and playing short handed, how important aggression is and how to apply it properly.

Every player, who is in the process of developing his/her own game should add this book to their collection, together with the Harrington on Holdem series. I was very impressed with the Harrington on Holdem books and a lot of playing style is based on what I learned from those books, which is why it was very interesting to learn some new things from Gus Hansen. Not that Hansen's ideas are revolutionary to poker, but there are a lot of small things that you might not be thinking about at this point but are definitely worth considering in the future. Usually the aim of these books is to teach the reader a couple of new things and make him/her think about certain situations. Well, if that was Gus Hansen's goal with this book, he succeeded in every way!

As the book title suggests, the book follows Gus Hansen’s progress throughout the levels at the Aussie Millions - from the early stages of the tournament, where Gus Hansen finds himself carelessly losing half his stack with ill-timed calls and bluffs until the dramatic heads-up confrontation with Jimmy Fricke at the final table.

Hansen’s strategy is quite simple. He wins the pots he is meant to win. However, by applying pressure on his opponents he also picks up all the pots where nobody really hits the flop. In a high ante and blind structure, this accounts for a huge amount of chips.

After taking a look at the statistical studies found at the back of the book, it is clear to see that Hansen was not blessed with great starting hands and that his blind and ante stealing tactics account for a large percentage of his stack.

Roo, you have been here long enough to know how the forum works.

SternSwiss started a thread about this book some time ago, you should have posted in there.

Also, although BlackLava would not be too happy if you posted the addresses of the relevant sites, you should at least acknowledge that your cut and paste from two seperate articles is not your own work.
