Question New idea for Outlaws tournaments!

Hi,

after double checking the Outlaws tournaments stats from the past days it seems it could simply die if 3-4 daily players left : That won't be possible, that tournament rocks

As I said a few hours ago, we can't really push money there until the affiliates system could grow our traffic but I bet I have no choice than trying something big even if it will cost money again

I've heard many complain after the loss of the $66 freeroll, so here is the idea :

Outlaws Tournament would be named "$66 for Outlaws" (4 a day, no change about time, and offcourse available and more than welcome to all players, not only Outlaws fans!)
$66 Guaranteed + Turbo structure (5 min per blind level instead of 10)
Buyin : $1+25 cents
Unlimited $2 rebuys through first hour
One $2 add-on

About prizes : $66 (classic prize schedule)
Third : One zero starred card
Second : One 1 starred card
First : One 2 starred card (it's technically easier for me than offering 2 cards as I said in my post about that, sorry to kill the "deal" Joya )
First grab 3 GP
Second grab 2 GP
Third grab 1 GP
First win 30 bullets
Second 15 bullets
third 10 bullets
(and same amount of toplist points than bullets)

Due to my math it would cost about $100 per day at least until we could really hit more than 20 registrations on those tournaments. But even if it would be a bad try I'm really pleased to test that and offer those dollars to actual daily players there!

Offcourse some will say it's not a $1 buyin for $66 and players with money got an advantage... That's right but again : We can't afford another setup!

Let me know if you like the structure or would prefer another one. It will trigger non Outlaws players there and even a few who don't even know we have a forum, counting on you to inform them while playing that we are a community too (could help!)

Edit : added a poll, votes are public and our other possibility would be to go for same setup than now + turbo and/or $10 guaranteed

'Lava

I couldn't decide which one to vote for, so I vote for all three. I will play any of the three. Try them all for awhile and go with the one that is the most successful from a business perspective. I want the business side of this site to succeed, which will inevitably make the free side stronger as well. I must add that I do no care much for re-buys, it encourages too many bingo players who go all in.

I think it would be quite exciting, and as you say would pacify those who are missing the old $66 tourney. Personally I like the blind structure as it is with the current Outlaw tourney because I feel it suits my game but I guess some of the more agressive players would prefer it to be a turbo.

Happy to go along with the majority and give anything a try.

Could we advertise it better in the log on page to attract new players.

I currently am enjoying playing them ,there is a good community base and the standard of poker is generally very good.

AtDawg got a good idea : If it is not working we could try same format with only 2 editions per day.
It would need an average of 20 players to be affordable, I will try to bigger the visibility of the tournament if we hit $66.
About structure I really love the actual one but with rebuys & addon and more players it wouln't be 2-3 hours but 3-4 hours

I voted to keep it unmodified simply because this is the only real money game I play and I really like the realstic feel of it. Players aren't rushed and everyone who plays does so very well. If it changes, I will still play, I just like the feel of the old structure.

i voted yes, but i will play these no matter what. i play 10 - 12 of these a week, so add-ons and re-buys may be expensive, but if the prizes are bigger, that should iron it out so to speak...

i'v voted to keep them as thay are as i feel i like the game at the standed and speed it is but saying that i will play them if you do feel the need to change so like jockny i'll go with the flow

or how about a 50/50 spilt 2 like thay are now a day and 2 at the $66 garented that way it cuts down your costs and would be a good way to see witch 1 becomes more popula ????

No way. Kick out the one at 5:00, that's the one that joya always wins because I am asleep at that time.
LOL

Seriously - I like the idea of keeping the same format twice a day and having the 66 twice a day.

I didn't vote because I've only played one tournament (I will be playing more) so can't really judge. However my thoughts are....
It was a very friendly, well played tournament, but there were only 6 players and it took almost two hours so the turbo element would speed things up especially if there were to be rebuys (which I don't like).
Happy whatever you decide, but will only be playing a few a week.

i still think this is the best tourney on the site. speeding up the blinds is a good idea and making 2 a day $66 ones and 2 as normal sounds good to me. lets see which one people go to bearing in mind that we all come from different parts of the world and timezones will determine which ones we play

I like it as it is at the moment...I really don't like the idea of re buys and add-ons...unless they are limited to one per person, sure it makes for a bigger pool but it doesn't seem kosher to me. Just encourages people with low stacks to increase there chips by going all in on bad hands, then getting the add on...

The tourney used to get 10-12 players but as the level play is so tight the games do run for a long time...so speeding up the blinds is a good idea, but not necessarily making it a turbo..

My favourite time is 9pm Melbourne time (05:00 server time) so 'personally' i would like to see that one stay...

Anyway i voted number 2, but 3 is good too

I voted number 3, simply because of the start times for it. Lately I have been playing the $25 Guaranteed for the only reason is that I have enough time. I absolutely LOVE the outlaws tourneyse gameplay and the players on these tourneys are the best on the site by a long shot.

I think the blinds do need to be sped up.. Even if only to try to limit the game to around the 2hr mark. I like the idea of the $10 guaranteed, but as joYa mentioned earlier, I too steer clear of most of the R&A because of that reason, it entices people to call with bad cards.

Well, thats my 2 cents .. Even if the prize isnt lifted, but the tourney was made slightly faster, I would start playing again. Its not about the money but the thrill of playing in the ONLY tourney on this site where you can actually play REAL poker with a great group of people. Thanks

Ive played in a few and I voted to keep it unmodified. The way it is right now is fine. I dont like the idea of being able to rebuy in. Also even if the games take longer I would not want it to be a turbo.

Now heres an idea too.. Anything to make it just that little bit shorter... this will shorten the game a little and should also settle down those so called "aggressive" players.. Nice one Virtus

Just a few additional info about weekly/daily setups :
I won't setup weekly events, I really want try to stick at first to the 4 daily editions setup to be sure to match everyone on site :
1) some players can't play through the week end, some can't through the week so a weekly event will miss one of the 2 groups
2) We have 30% UK, 30% US and 10% Oz traffic (plus others offcourse ) : The only way to please everyone is to setup at least 3 editions per day, 4 will work much better and that's our setup for op66 ones, it makes sense to setup events between those so 4 is the right number.

I can setup any special event, or weekly one on free side, but when it comes to money we need to see each Guaranteed amount as a prize offered to players and I prefer offering something for everyone than targeting a % (that was obviously the issue with $66 freeroll and $366).
The idea of setting up 2 editions per day will be only if the 4 editions would cost too much, which won't be the case with a $10 guaranteed, it's ok.

I would like to play the Outlaws Tournies because a lot of the people I see on them are people I have played with a lot on the free side. I know they are good players and in a real money game I'm sure the game play would be great fun and enjoyable.

The two reasons I haven't played an Outlaw tourney yet are firstly because I dont play the Outlaws RPG, but that's only a minor point and that alone wouldn't stop me entering the tourney.

Secondly, and the main reason, is that at the same time as the Outlaws there is a $25 gauranteed tourney. Both cost the same to enter but due to the low number of entries in the Outlaws the prizefund is a lot lower. The odds might be better in Outlaws because of fewer opponents, but the payback is a lot less if you manage to place.

If the Outlaws was $25 gauranteed prizefund I would play it rahter than the other one because of the players I know who enter it.

If it was $66 gauranteed that would be even better LOL.

I didnt vote because I dont think it would be fair if I did.

I think it would be better with no rebuys and as a non turbo.
