not yet shaun, was all over glasgow visiting hotels today, got a few more tomorrow to check then i will let you all know what i find. only really found 2 suitable ones today but as i say i will continue tomorrow and get back to you all asap.

Ok firstly I didn't see this thread when I last read and posted on the original Scottish party thread, however I do notice that no one has posted on this one in a fortnight so I have no idea if any one is still trying to organise it;If there is then all well and good. If not, then is anyone still interested in a party up North?

As I said, 'I know a bloke who has a bar/hotel (which has some nice ales and one of the best whiskeys bars I've seen outside of Scotland) and a seperate function room.................... see other thread" It's entirely possible that we can book the hotel out, mingle in the public hotel bar, which gets a good crowd in, a lot of people I know well. The function room is adjoining, but also has it's own bar and we can get it to ourselves, trust me the staff are cool as long as you are. I really can't see a problem with any games in house.

It's a bit further to travel for some, a bit less to travel for others. I'm confident that it can be all in house. I'm going to go check with him tonight or tommorrow to find out how many rooms he has,what the prices are pn/pppn single / double. And what weekends are available for fri-sat stopovers with the function room. I'll also query what the poker script and let you know what he say's. After that we'll see.

I'll add the link to the hotels website here also then you don't have to visit 2 threads to see it. If I get a positive response to our 2 main requirements, function room and poker, I'll get a list of the weekends that are available to us and post it them as a poll.

I've just had another look at the website and these are the prices. No listing as to how many rooms.

The following prices are for your room and a fantastic breakfast: (their words not mine)
Single en-suite £45 per room per night
Double and twin en-suite £60 per room per night
Family en-suite (3 people) £75 per room per night
Family en-suite (4 people) £85 per person per night (is this a typo? I'll have to ask.)

2 nights booking required if staying on a Saturday night.

Ok, peeps I've been to see the guy, and like a true gentleman he refused to speak business at the weekend. However he is interested, he wants me to go see him through the week and tell him what we need from him. He's gotta look at the laws regarding gaming and licensing as far as they apply to him and his business. Obviously any games with cash on the tables are a no-no.
I can see 2 ways to circumvent any problems with gaming laws that may arise. 1stly we arrange a ticketed event for op66 members, tickets costing say £5, (if we want entertainments (live music and/or dj) and/or food this may increase to maybe £10/15 per head. Free entry to a multi-table tournament with a prize fund equivalent to £5 per head included.
2ndly, non cash prizes, maybe a multi-table tournament with quality whiskey and a fine bottle of wine as 1st and second prizes with a 1st and 2nd place medal. (contributions required)
3rdly. We make full use of his hotel bar, and if function room is available blag that for free to ourselves, or I'm going to suggest he comps us all free entry to any function he has already booked (he does lots of ska do's, scooter nights, bands, etc, and various other club nights) And I can 100% gaurantee a large upstairs room in another bar 5 mins away, no questions asked, fri night only to play cards

I must say I'm a bit disappointed that the only person who bothered to message me to say they were up for it was Betty. But I understand that this meet has been tried to be arranged in Glasgow on 2 occasions and failed, so i forgive you your disillusionment but it would help if people interested in this could pm. The more people I can say are interested the better the deal i can get (not on his hotel prices though, just what he'll throw in for free).

So come on people, start to pm me.
