Anglers Corner I think, with so many anglers amongst our members, that a thread where we can share knowledge of favourite venues, tactics on these venues, details of the easiest way to find the places, and the best pegs. When I lived in Somerset, six miles south of Bath, I found an idyllic spot on the River Avon, free fishing, from a tarmac towpath, no clambering through waist high grass, dead easy to fish, and the best Chub fishing I've ever had. One morning in early December I had a great bag of Chub, two fish over 6 lbs, caught on a home made paste of blue cheese and bread. The secret of the swim is that the warm water from the Roman Baths runs out into the river directly across from the peg bringing many fish into the swim especially in winter. The spot is directly downstream of the weir with the Rugby ground at your back. You must fish about forty yards below the weir from a raised position by a set of stone steps leading down to the water. If any of you like Pike fishing the swim is loaded with them chasing the enormous shoals of Dace. A cracking spot for anyone who likes a change from Carp fisheries, a bit more of a challenge. As an afterthought I might add that using a keep net here is not recommended, I tried it once and had a massive hole torn in it by a Pike, greedy bugger.
