Default England Captain?

John Terry has been stripped of the England captaincy, while allegations of racial abuse hang over his head.
The trial is not until July, so in the meantime England need a new captain for the Euro 2012 finals.
There are 6 names being talked about at the moment to take over the armband.
Steven Gerrard

Frank Lampard

Scott Parker

Phil Jones

Joe Hart

Gareth Barry

Rio Ferdinand has said he won't be captain again, so who do you think should lead the England team in Euro 2012, and why?

got to agree with terry venables statement.
"FA chairman David Bernstein and his fellow board members who made the decision will now have no grounds for complaint if the Three Lions flop in Poland and Ukraine this summer.

""Their astonishing knee-jerk reaction has resulted in them shooting themselves in the foot. "

"They may claim a moral victory but it could end up being one of the few victories the FA witness in the coming few months.

"By removing Terry from his position they have effectively rendered England rudderless as we prepare to embark for the stormy seas of a major tournament. The decision does not only appear unlawful, it is illogical and ill thought out."
look out for a compensation cliam if terry is found not guilty.

Knew they'd find a back-up excuse just in case they perform poorly at the euro

Whoever takes the armband, best be prepared for the national press.

So if Gareth barry,Scott parker, ect ect dropped a sweet wrapper when younger

it will soon be front page news.

Think the FA should grow a pair,an stop bowing down to the press

who always build up then knock the national side down,at every major tournement.

So in short give the armband to the sun.

As usual it's been handed really badly.
If he was going to be stripped of the Captaincy then it should have been done much sooner.
I can't understand why Suarez was given a 8 match ban when there are no police charges involved, yet Terry continues without penalty for Chelsea (even captained Country since the allegations.

Of the candidates.
Steven Gerrard - recent court case showed him to be a cowardly thug.
Frank Lampard - twighlight years, not guaranteed a start.
Scott Parker - good professional, but not inspirational.
Phil Jones - too early, one for the future though.
Joe Hart - would be my choice, guaranteed starter can see everything from the back, but as an England keeper has enough to worry about.
Gareth Barry - not good enough.

How about Rooney, lol, might calm him down.

Terry is undoubtably the best Captain.

I'm glad I don't face a trial with support from the FA, they seem to have him guilty already. I'm no great supporter of Terry but I do think the FA should have waited for the court's decision before pre-guessing his guilt. I also think, although I myself would never hold a persons colour against him. words spoken in the heat of the game should be overlooked, Ferdinand is acting very precious in my opionion.

whilst im not terry's biggest fan what happened to innocent until proven guilty? he should never have been given it back after the first time it was took off him.

i like how rio has opted out. lol guy cant get a good run for his club what makes him think he is even going

gerrard and lampard shouldnt even go to the euros imo

parker and barry are the ultimate beige

jones and hart aint even second choice captain for their clubs so why would the be first choice for their country?

maybe if they gave it to rooney he might actually try for his country
