Starting in 10 minutes is the M17 soccer world cup semi finals, where Switzerland will be facing Colombia after having beaten (amongst others): Brazil, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Japan. And never to the penalties: always during regular time or overtime. First time Swtz reaches that stage in a FIFA competition (even if a junior) Contrary to some of my country mates I am not too optimistic (overconfidence is the most dangerous) and Columbia showed amazing will power on their last two games, returning situations that seemed lost. Game visible there online. Anyways, after the M21 that won the euro a few years back, a fantastic new coach (hitzfeld) and the direct qualifiactions for South Africa by winning hte group, the future doesn't look too gloomy for our small country for once (even though we all know that many players excellent at this age don't make it big later; some defintely do) Allez les rougets!!!!!!!! ![]()

Well, Columbia reversed their 2 last games.... And Switz beat Germany 10 to 11. So still crossing fingers tight. But it is definitely better odds than the other way round ;-)

Yeeepeee! 4-0. They totally dominated the game, showed inpressive progress since last games and were still as powerful forward. They could honestly have scored 3 of 4 more with some good saves by the colombian keeper, a few unmissable misses and one transveral pole. Sigrist, the swiss keeper, had only one real save to make. Next and final stage will be either Spain or Nigeria (whose previous generation won the last edition). Switzerland has been amazingly supported by the local crowd, but if it is Nigeria that makes it to the final, well it will be another sroty, since they are hosting the competition. Well done boys!!!!!!! The whole country is proud of you. Let's hope the A team does as well next June in Africa. And with a few of these young players already having their place in professional A teams, we do have some hope for the future.
