NFL Playoffs - Bracket Buster!!!

Alright fans of the National Football League!

We are heading into week # 17 of the regular season --- the final week of the season. A few of us have been having some fun predicting games during the season on this thread: american football?

In that thread, on post # 291, I mused about a playoff edition... well, I've decided to make it official, so if you are interested in participating, you can indicate your interest here... we'll also be running the contest from this thread.

It's simple... it's going to go like this...

In the first week of the playoffs, there will be 4 games contested... you will be predicting the winner for each game but also indicating your level of confidence... from 4 (most confident) to 1 (least confident). You will use each level of confidence only once... if you correctly predict the 4-point game, you get 4 points... and so on, down to the 1-point game. Maximum points in the first week will be 10 points (getting all 4 games correct). You'll be making your predictions on this thread, being sure that you do NOT edit your post once you make your predictions!!!

Here's a hypothetical example for how week # 1 might work (for illustrative purposes, only!):

Cincinnati at Houston --- HOUSTON --- 1 (meaning, I am least confident of this result)
Pittsburgh at Denver --- PITTSBURGH --- 4 (meaning, I am most confident of this result)
Atlanta at New Orleans --- NEW ORLEANS --- 3
Detroit at NY Giants --- NY GIANTS --- 2

In the second week of the contest, it will be similar... once again, there'll be 4 games contested, so we'll be using the same formula... and again, the maximum points in the second week will be 10 points (getting all 4 games correct).

Things will change a bit in the third week, which are the Conference Championship games, where there'll only be 2 games contested. The level of confidence "weights" will be 4 and 2, so maximum points in the third week will be 6 points.

Finally, in the final week, the Super Bowl, that game will be worth 5 points for a correct prediction.

So, a "perfect run" of predictions (maximum potential) in the playoffs will be 31 points over the course of the four playoff weeks. The winner, or the "Grand Champion" will be person with the highest point total.

When we reach the Super Bowl week, I will be providing a series of questions which will be predictions on certain outcomes/events during the Super Bowl... for example, it might be total points scored, or which team scores the first touchdown, or something along those lines --- I'll only reveal the TIEBREAKER questions once the Super Bowl teams have been identified.

It's very simple... you'll need to play along each week (contest will last for 5 weeks, counting the "off week" between the Conference Championship games and the Super Bowl. There won't be any weekly winners... there'll only be a single "Grand Champion", winner-take-all.

The Forum Credit prize pool has not been determined (I need to have a meeting with my "banker"!!! ).

It'll be fun --- join in!

Once the playoff teams have been determined and the schedule of games announced (probably Sunday night), I will post the first week entry and provide a deadline, which will be just prior to kickoff of the first game.

REMEMBER: Every game must have a confidence level of 1 to 4, using each number ONCE... your "4" game will be the game you are MOST confident about picking to your "1" game being the game you are LEAST confident about picking.

DEADLINE: ALL PICKS for this week must be posted by the start of the first game... deadline for posting entries will be SATURDAY, January 7th at 4:30pm EST (New York time zone).

It'd be great to see a lot of players joining in this competition! A Forum Credit prize will be distributed to the final champion (see post # 1 for details). The prize amount has not been determined!
