| I expect some of you, supporters of Man City, Man Utd, Barcelona, and such will shout very loud about this opinion but I believe the ridiculous use of wealth will eventually kill the golden goose. The mad buying of any player who takes their fancy is not good for the game, it means that young players who do not immediately star will be replaced by big money players bought with ludicrous prices, where will it end. In my humble opinion we will lose top football in each country to be replaced by a European league with only maybe four teams from each country in the top bracket, the others can complain but money will prevail. The league structure in England should be protected at all costs, the loss of teams like Brighton, Blackpool, and many others who battle their way into the top league without buying blindly every greedy, money chasing foreigner, would be the saddest event since we first closed our eyes to money laundering in our beautiful game. OK you lot you can now slang me, I have a thick skin, but I know I'm right.

| Absolutely right Danzi, I'm just waiting for the supporters of these clubs to post their excuses. By the way, I've supported the team from the area I was born since 1948, Burnley, it would be against everything I believe in to switch my support just to shout home a rich, successful club, it's a matter of pride.

| You must have entered a team or 2 fred,in the fantasy football comps over the years. its just that roman abramovich,an a few of the others play it for real. ![]() has a chelski fan i agree, the money being spent is laughable. we have some real british talent in our youth side, but dont hold out much hope of many making the first team, under the current rules. ![]()

| We'll both be hoping for a result on Saturday Ace, we seem to flog any player who can make us a bob or two and play the youngsters, I'm sure that's how clubs like Derby, Burnley, Ipswich, and the like will have to work.

| iv been a manchester city fan for as long as i can remember. we was once a loved team because of our fans and all of a sudden we are everything that is wrong with football because we have the funds to compete at the highest level. but it has been going on for years i believe andy cole was a british transfer record at 7 mil in 1995. there are still clubs today that can not afford those prices. whos fault is that? the club that had the money to spend on that player? also you say its no good for youth players how can learning off the best players in the world be bad for them? and training in complexes that are state of the art. currently manchester city have 7 england internationals in its squad, is it a bad thing that they play along side and learning from top foreign internationals? look across the leagues and you will see a lot of city academy players that didnt make it at city for one reason or another this happened before we had the money and will no doubt continue to happen in the future. you only have to look at the likes of stoke and bolton to see you can stay in the top flight on a shoe string. blame bad management for clubs going down not other clubs with money.

| Fred, you talk about young players being replaced by big money stars, well those big money stars have to start somewhere, they are not born 22 years old and with an amazing 3 year history behind them. The cream will rise to the top and they will want to play for the clubs who are successful AND paying the best wages. OK, for those of us supporting clubs outside the top bracket, maybe it is harder for us to break into the elite, but isn't that what competition is all about. I remember growing up in the 70's and 80's and Liverpool were the equivalent of a present day Man Utd, winning the league at will and successful in Europe, they had the pick of the best players and success bred success. Times change and clubs have to adapt, those that can't will fade from the limelight. Another Derby fan here, we were close to the edge, but stabilised now, thats just the nature of the game.

| Will you tell me truthfully Spoon how you felt when City had no cash and your deadly rivals had everything. I still say that excessive transfers and doubly excessive wages are not good for the game. People say it's a short career so they earn it while they can but even the mini-stars end up rich enough to have no worries, the top players can afford to gamble in thousands, buy race horses without worrying if they win or not, and act like idiots generally.

| supporting manchester city is with out a doubt the hardest club to support in the world. correct me if im wrong but i think when united won the treble we were relegated to division two. happy days, i honestly loved it. tickets were cheap and pies were cheap(chicken balti pies at maine road were the cats pajamas) later when i was old enough..pints were cheap . throwing rizla at the top of the kippax when ewe rosler scored is one of my best memories. it would have been easy growing up to join the dark side like my brother(never liked him) but success is now the sweeter. i dont care if people suggest we are buying it because its very much deserved.
