bad read or bad play

check this and be honest was this bad play by me or just unlucky
i was first to act and flat called all folded round to big blind
afer flop my thinking was no ace in opponents hand otherwise he would of raised preflop,so he bets 1250,my thinking is i have top pair with good kicker so i raised it all in got called big surprise he was playing the bottom pair but hit trips so good for him surprised he played it but he hit was i wrong here

Well. You did get unlucky on turn. Similar thing happened to me today when someone called almost 3000 chips on an inside str8 draw... and hit.

But you cannot assume no one has an ace form the info you gave, I'd say (no raising).

To the contrary it can be a typical rag ace situation... or a concealed monster.

You could very well face an A2 , or even a big hand slowplayed. In this specific case the big blind wanting you as customer for flop (not intersted to get this small pot here and there and not giving any info on strength as one would do if just raising little). Or a low pair hitting trips (2's likley, here, if so).

So your raise was dangerous. Basically a very agressive move. But not necessarily a bad one. And you should have won that speficic hand, looking at the holdings.

Now, since curtoma knows, as we all do, that you are ultra aggressive as a player he thought you were again pushing and called.

think i'd fold K 10 offsuit under the gun in most cases, reason being at 400 blinds, i dont like playing hands i'm not prepared to call a raise with.

in saying that, after hitting middle pair on flop with a good kicker,against a player you expect to do a pot size bet if they hit or not, i'd probably put him on a bluff same as you,or atleast ahead in the hand. so would prob re-raised the same.

just dam unlucky that another 2 came on the turn.

but go back to start,dont think i'd have played that hand in that position, because there was alot of re-raising at the table

I agree With Kev, UTG I usually fold K 10 , I wouldn't be raising on my BB with a rag ace either so to be honest , so I would have been a bit concerned about the Ace on the flop. I think I would have been a bit wary of the strengh of his bet post flop if I'm honest I would have folded.

Actually, I agree with both. I was commenting the post flop moves.


K10 non suited under the gun (suited as well, mostly), I fold unless table specifics tell me otherwise; ie: I am desesperately low M'ed or mostly limpers that do not raise preflop and I have a way huge stack or a few other very rare cases that would be besides the point..

thanks guys must admit utg i would fold k 10 off,but was not getting any cards worth playing so it was bad play ,but it was a case of i could have folded and make points or try to get some chips for final table,i went out 18th in tourny with this play so other factors came into play ,still learning to try and play more aggresive ,but thanks for your replys

understand tel, is hard when your getting dealt junk hand after hand.
but you still had 10 BB's,think i'd have waited for a better spot, as we all know around that time in the tourneys theres plenty of all in's from low stacks trying to double up too.

however, probably done it many times myself
