keeping player notes can be very useful to help read players,as you say you cant see reactions online,

if you play a player regulary then you can get a read, but alot of players mix there play on purpose to make it harder

also even if there's a long pause, that could be planned to throw you, or genuine thinking, so i personally dont take much notice of that.

I think you get to know a persons way of playing (we all have fave hands etc. Personally I go with my gut , the way the cards have been flopping and whats in my hand.

Sometimes you can spot betting patterns. Players who you know to be normally cautious calling or raising a re raise is normally a good indicator that they are holding a very strong hand.

Hi moveon, good luck on the tables. As far as reading players goes, as has been said you can get a bit of a read after a while if you play someone often enough. Look for patterns in their play. It easy to say but a bit harder to do. And use the notes feature too, it can be very helpful.

I'm sure lots of people can read me, the trouble is I can't cos I got no idea what i'm doing next lol

There's not really tells, but you can tell a lot purely by the way they bet. What I tend to do is, if I see someone betting differently than they usually would then I will call all the way to see why they are playing differently, it might cost me in the short run but in the long run I now know why they are betting that way. Mixing up play is used often however alot of people will always stick to atleast one similarity just because it's in our nature to react to certain things. But honestly other than knowing your oponants betting patterns inside out there is no sure fire or brilliant method to read an online player

How do you tackle people who keeps doing "all in"?
I am always hesitant to play and they turn out not having even single big card before flop?

Not sure that this is strictly related or specific to online play, but you will find many discussions about this subject as it has been much debated in the past.

oh and welcome to OP66

I don't think avatar tells much about a person. (your avatar depends on how good you are with computers and how creative).

I am a beginer, But I believe you can get an idea on how good their cards based on the amount of time they take to decide and, the kind of past bidding pattern.

I don't think you can read anything more than that.

I'm sure we have all our own ways of possibly reading players, i've not seen many posts above on how thats done!! Do we really want to give out that information??, I suppose its like a secret of the trade, I'm no expert, far from it!! but playing on a site like this and entering same tornys time and time again and watching players styles certainly help.

Watch the players carefully even after you have folded, dont run off and snog up the misses!! Some players automatically raise pre flop with pockets, some dont.. Some will sit there and wait till their time bank runs down as if thinking whether or not to play the 4 A's they have, only to check..In my opinion you cant read a player until you have played them and watched them closely, you can but it takes time.. Facial expressions dont come into it, the body language read at a real table must be a massive part of ringside playing, as this does'nt exist online, i feel the only way is to play the same people time and time again..

Using when you decide to show everyonelse your cards can play some good rolls, turn off 'auto muck' show people if you beat them down with a bluff!! and visa versa it in itself can be a good stratedgy.

Not all players (or maybe no players) will agree with me but I feel some of that has helped me, I'm still a bit of a noobie myself but have come on heaps and bounds since being on this site, sociably its second to none.

Just keep playing, enter Hetmans every night or similar torny, one pointer though.. there are many, many superb players on here, dont take them for granted and half of them would probably sell their grandmothers if they could, so dont trust them.. lol.

As for the all inners, try to play YOUR hand and not theirs, if you feel you have a better hand play it!! regardless.. you will lose some but will win more..

Anyways, i'll stop rattling on.. Good Luck

you can watch for betting patterns, timing patterns... and i just generally go with my instinct always, always trust it... but yes you can read people online... but it takes some practice and understanding... this will be reached by playing a lot of hands, so you will see more situations.
