Default Confused with hands

I just played on a table and lost despite having AK and the other cards being J, 10, 9, Q.

I thought I had a good hand but I lost and it said someone one with a Q high flush won.

Am i being stupid or summit?

Unless your cards were all of the same suit then I'm afraid you were outdone by a better hand my friend. A flush beats a straight any day of the week

You had and Ace high straight they had a queen high flush?

If that's the case, a flush beats a straight in hand rankings.

Oh right. So if they were all the same suit I would have won?

So i'm guessing the other players hand had all of the same suit?

Indeed, Queen high flush would be five cards of the same suit the highest of which being a Queen.
