Good Post Roo.. I think its probably dangerous to pidgeon hole anyone too much. I would expect most of the better players to adopt several styles even within the same game. Cheers Mac

Yeah this is good, especially to identify those you play with often. Like someone else posted, I think a good player can play many roles, except the calling station or type that constantly goes all-in...they usually lose in the end. I can be one type (I'm not telling which one) more often than other times, but I think it all depends on the situation...like I think if you have short stack, might not be good to throw your chips around casually. But I do loosen up with the money to throw, and basically try to complement the style of the opponents.

Oh...and don't forget all other things equal (no money stress or excess), sometimes it's just the cards that fall that speak to me what to do, so it might seem like I'm anal or loosey goosey at times, you'll never know the real story unless you see my cards.

| You can play your own game indeed Dosco, but it's always handy to analyse your opponents and put them into a catergory after a few hands. You can then start to predict the strength of their hand based on that and make suitable decisions at key points in the game. If you have no idea what your opponents are like and you've made it into the top three somehow, I guarantee you'll finish third.

I got a poker book with a very similar poker personalities profile such as that one, except mine has fish as beginners and foxes as sharks lol. Just off the record, everyone should aim to be a fox, or a shark, as it is these players who know how to study a table, its betting frequencies and personalities, and are able to adapt accordingly to the table-- changing gears. These guys are the most unpredictable, watch out for them...an unpredictable pkr plyr can be the best type. I try to be a fox/shark, but sometimes i just don't have the kahunas. After all, i'm just a lickle duckling lol Players aren't as identifyable online as they are in real life, i feel. Which is annoying in many respects. So such knowledge for me is useless.

Wow. Thanks for the info. A lot (maybe too much) for me to consider while playing. Also, I have no idea what category I fall under. Did I miss one about The Unlucky Player?

I play somewhere between tight aggressive and loose aggressive, depends on the texture of the game, and the players ![]()
