I'm going to be posting a few poker tips here.

Let me know if you agree or disagree because feedback is always good.
(Just to let you know, this is all my opinion, and how i find it works so dont take it as gospel)

Im starting with "The Art of the All In" as a lot of new/old players lose a lot of money by making poor decisions trying to win quick cash as I also have done.

1/ Before the flop

Going all in before the flop is probably the most dangerous thing you can do but will most likely get the most calls = more money, this is most players all in of choice as people will likely call with lower hands, especially if they think you are trying to steal the blinds. So what should you go all in with?

There are the obvious hands, AA KK QQ JJ 1010 AK AQ AJ.

Personally, I tend to be safe with AK AA AJ anything else is a risk.

Remember, an all in with a KK only takes someone to hit an Ace, so A2 A3
could beat you. I would probably still recommend it, but always calculate your outs.

Again QQ and JJ are only good before the flop, if an Ace comes out after that, you are pretty much beat if on a table of 10, so all in isn't bad if your instinct tells you theres no AAs or KKs on the table.

Lower pairs are risky, but if it is against one person, it may be worth the gamble. Again calculating the odds of the ammount of people calling could save you or break you here.

For example, if 4 people left on the table and there's a pretty aggressive player who you think may call, and 2 passive players who you think will fold, an 88 99 1010 isn't a bad hand to play. It also depends a lot on postion, which i will come back to on a later post.

Basically there are 3 things you have to think of, Position, Hand and Risk all of which are as important as each other.

So that's it for my first post. Let me know what you think and please add your comments/opinions, and ill be back posting more soon.

Regards.

i go in way too much lol. i go in just about every time i hit one of these good hands. its a bad habit, but when blinds get to be high in the tourneys its an easy way to pick up a couple hundred chips =)

i think u should go all in late in the tourney when u are "one vs. one" at the end.

If u have the bigger stack and u get a decent hand u shoudl go all in. Statistically u will have the upper hand, and at worst u will collect some blinds. And late in the game the blind will be a huge boost

I agree. What I do is I slowly gain chips until I am the tall stack so that way if I lose the hand after I went all in, I won't be out.

I would love to see everyone at a table go all in on the first hand. That would be awesome! LOL

KK is definately an all-in or at least a high pre-flop raise simply because odds show that A3 vs KK is winning for KK so easily maths never lies.

saragossa, op66 is crazy in some ways. I have often seen people lose with AA,AK,KK.mathamatics and logic do not always apply here, and odds are often defied.

pokerface, there is an all in table if you want to see that.
if you want to see 6,7,8 people go all in, check out some of the 1k mini tourneys
