Question HUDs and Trackers

Just a curious question: Does anyone here use any kind of software (e.g. Heads Up Displays) to track either their own or opponents' stats? I always thought it was somewhat unfair and didn't translate to live play so not "real poker"

However I think it gives an interesting way of looking at opponents. I know a lot of regulars give people's playing styles in numbers which alsmost seem like secret code instead of the general LAG or TAG. I'm kind of wondering about it and whether it's worthwhile.

So any one use one, or does anyone at least have an opinion on the matter?

P.S. if you do PM me my VP$IP and AF etc. I'd like to see my stats. Kinda curious.

I find these programs as borderline cheating but alot of people use them and their considered 'legal' to use. On some of the big poker sites profesionals have went a step farther. Recently online poker sensation "isldur" whos won millions in heads up pokergames against the likes of Daniel Negraneu, zigmund, ErikLindgrin and othters, was ganged up on by several pros who sent each other their hand historys against isldur and methodicly went hand by hand looking for patterns and such in his betting, probly using a computerprogram to help as it was tens of thousands of hands. And it worked they took him down bigtime in onenight. If thats not collusion i dont know what is. So always be aware when playing online ,especially for veryhigh stakes that their are people who will do anything to get an edge.

I had someone on another site encourage me to reconsider this again. I don't even think I want it for the edge (though being able to have a general idea about an unknown in a tournament is no different than knowing your opponent from actual experience or seeing them on TV like many pros). If nothing else it's a good way to track progress. It keeps much more detailed stats like BB won per 100 hands at multiple levels. And what percentage of that is in showdown vs. nonshowdown hands. It also tells you things like how much you're winning/losing on particular preflop hands or post flop hands (like I might actually be losing in the long run on two pair). I'm still thinking about it, but it might be a fun and useful little investment. Especially if I continue to play on the money side.
