Default Intimidating Others

hello!

i just want to ask you guys on how you intimidate fellow players by your solid play in order to get some respect inside the game.. Not in the sense of bullying inside, but the sense of having a strong play that will make others fold, even though they could have stood a chance..

im always overwhelmed by seemingly strong players when it gets to the card showdown.. my choice is always narrowed to folding and giving my hand up.

Bullying is one thing, bluffing is another. I do agree there should be no bullying and perhaps a max. bet could be set in place BUT when your bluffing your bluffing. You want to see the cards you have to pay the price, is that bullying?

bluffing strongly is hard so be carefull i was up to about 10k chips and tried to scare down a player in doing so lost all of them so you have to know when to stop....

often new players will "jump" at an ace...wearas if the exact same turn was delt with the replaced ace with say a 6 and the ace in the persons hand was a 6 as well they may not bet...so their is one good tip to try to bluff your opponent into thinkin you have an ace.

if two of the same card are dealt in the turn if your fealing confident that noone elese has one bet HIGH (like if average bet is about 200 bet about 1k....avg bet is 3k bet around 8-9k)if someone calls you might wana see if they try to outbet you otherwise you should fold lol

when your bluffing watch for the little things you may not see

1 flush draws will kill you
2 straight draws are no fun either
3 full houses (hard to see but if their betting agressive for a 2 pair or even 3 of a kind it may be there)

hope this helps

The more chips you have, the stronger you can bully without being so affected if the opponent(s) successfully bite back! Though i'd never recommend it. No real joy for me in gaining chips that way!

Bully when you have strong cards.
Bluff when you have week ones.

Good luck

It is bullying when they go All-In everytime and they have like 5,000 chips to your 1000.

But what really ticks me off is when they wait until everyone has put in there bet and they placed the mini bid and then go all-in...

But that is Poker and you get mad and play again....lol

No it is not bullying it is part of the game itself. Large stacks should always attack the small stacks. Tournament play is the best example of that. It is your opponents job to take your chips to get you out of the game, that improves his odds of winning. Sorry but thats just the way it is.

Absolutely correct! What I try to remember, and often forget, is to be ready to play your hand to the highest chipstack involved, and if you are not ready to do that, be ready to fold away any bets you have laid down. Know your hand and its possibilities, know what the best hand is, know the difference, guess your oponents hands, check, call, bet, raise, or fold as needed.

As you seen tonight I use it quite often..and you missed my point: I said "That is Poker" meaning that is the way it is played.

BTW: I enjoyed playing poker with you tonight, I hope to do it again soon.

Tighten your play and then the decision to stick with a hand will be easier... Also, playing even tighter when out of position also helps. The only other thing you can do is to pay extreme attention to what players are doing and be wary of aggressive moves and weak moves. Keeping a constant mental tally about what a player did last (especially if they don't really have a clue) is one of the best investments of time you can make. Good Luck!

Here is the thing, as I have seen it....

Most call "bullying" when they haven't the chips or the fortitude to call a high raise or all in. It appears that on several of the tables when things get going slow, people will go all in just for the heck of it and many times I am amazed at the hands that people will push with (2, 3 off suit).

The best way I have found to avoid feeling bullied is to either enter the table with more than the minimum entrance level so you are on par with others already on the table or be willing to lose everything you have on all in hands.

Just my .02 worth.

You said it the best i think, and hey a little pushing can give some good action. If you can't sit down, then stand up! I don't want to sound rude or mean in any manner. You come into a poker room to play some poker. Play poker and good luck to all.
