In general the players that win at poker are those that are most aggressive at the table. This can be dangerous as you can meet strong resistance. Know when to hold em and when to fold em. If you have good cards or any kind raise it up. When the flop comes dont just check! You must fire a 2nd shot continuation bet. If they call or raise it may be safe to say they have something. Hope this helps

You might want to ignore me because I'm rather new to the game, but I believe Bazzy is right.

Remember now that you're one on one pretty much any high card is worthy of playing, so don't go for the fold button like you would have done earlier in the game.

If you are the dealer, be ready to call/raise almost any hand (maybe not a re-raise if your hand is really bad) because you have position. If the flop/turn/river comes up and your opponent checks, test him with a bet. More likely than not he'll have nothing as well, but he can't bite into your hand as you're showing strength.

Don't play absolute trash hands. 7 and a 3 is a fold situation (provided you have to call to see flop) - You should be looking to play hands with cards of 8's and above.

Oh, and don't be afraid to go all in if you get a pair. If he calls you have around 55% chance of winning, if he folds you pick up the blinds, which can be pretty big.

Lalala. Learn your opponent. You've played with them until the end, you should have a fairly substantial pile of information on how they will play in certain situations.
If you're opponent has played tight/passive all the way through and raises on the flop, chances are he's holding the nuts.

Finally, be lucky, you're playing poker afterall!
