| Ok first never bluff bluffer(i m talking about low tables). First watch how players on your table play if they are playing slow you can bluff but not too much. Ok lets say you have ak you raise pre flop you have 1-2 caller and you did not hit nothing raise same amount as you see on table that should take the pot if somebody call hit check on turn (if you did not get nothing)- thats when you are playing with players that play tight. If you are playing on lower tables i would suggest that you simply wait (don t bluff) cause of many all ins and play tight without bluffing 80% that you will finish in top 3 in minis. And for bluffing vs middle pair or low pair or even high pair thats more complicated you will need too learn that with experiance( when you will have ability too read players). | If you don't feel confident doing it, the simple answer is don't. Bluffing is a whole set up, not just a throw of the dice on the river. The idea of the bluff is to make it seem your hand is better than your opponents. Convey that message at correctly done points and you'll soon find out how and when it can be done. Never do an all in if you're bluffing. Whilst you may win sometimes by getting your opponent to fold, the odd occassion you do get called is far far worse. With a bluff, you want to bet minimum highest amount to which your opponent will fold into you. Work out some odds to find out what is a reasonable sized bet. Good luck, be sure to read up advice from the pro's ![]()

| Bluffing is an art. When it works it is great; when it doesn’t you look foolish. I play a ‘tight’ game. I want other players to know that I play a tight game. So when I do bluff (which is not often), other players almost always put me on a better hand than I have. But beware, bluffing has pitfalls. A lot of good players look for people bluffing way too often. They wait for a good hand then just meekly call the bluffer (seemingly scared or just chasing a card) letting the bluffer put in raises until they are ready to pounce. |

| i agree with the advice already posted. remember, you cant bluff a bad player. so if your just learning, and on the low limit tables, then, chances are, your going to be up against some bad players, or rather inexperienced players. you should never try to bluff these people, it wont work for most of the time. i would advise leaving the bluffing out of your game until you have really got to grips with what you are doing. as danzi says, when you can read other players, then is the time you can start to think about bluffing. it doesnt matter how clever, or sophisticated you make a bluff, a bad player wont understand what you are doing, and because of that, your play, no matter how subtle or imaginative, wont work. an example of this would be when an inexperienced player holds a pair of queens. if there was one king on the board, you could make a better player lay the queens down with the right bet. but a novice player wouldnt lay them down, because in general, they overvalue their hands. so whilst your play could work against an experienced player, it will probably go tits up if you try it against a novice. be lucky mate |

| try not to bluff but only semy bluff say when you know you dont have the best hand but you have outs you can hit to give you the win that way if your bluff is called you are still in with a shout of winning the pot any way like danzi sead betting big with 2 over cards so if you are called you can still be saved by the tern or the river |

| Knowing when to bluff depends on risk = reward. Knowing when to bluff depends on how much you can afford to loose and how much your opponents can afford to loose. Knowing when to bluff is knowing when you've placed a seed of doubt into your opponents mind about your game play and style. Knowing when to bluff is when there is no doubt in your mind that your opponent/s will fold. Have a go playing some lower limit tables for a few days and practice a few bluff hands, get a feel for how things pan out. Remember its pretend money so be put off betting high or being aggressive either. You'll have nothing to loose but a lot to gain in experience. good luck! fut. |

There is a lot of good advice here. A bluff will not work on an inexperienced player, nor will it work on a monster hand. Do not bluff too often. I would add that you should try not bet your bluff so heavily that you end up too short stacked to continue, if you are called. Also, if people are playing you so tight that you cannot make your good hands pay, sometimes bluffing until you get caught will loosen up the game. P.S. Remember: I am certainly not an expert (I don’t even play one on TV) so take my advice with a grain of salt. Free advice is often overpriced. ![]() |

| Thanks for the advice, I'm sure it will help me. Maybe you can help me with my other problem. I'm pretty sure that I'm giving to much information away with my tells. I tried to find some articles to improve my Poker face over the web but that didn't really help me. How do you control yourself if you flop a monster?

| Here's something that might work for you...bluff once, and once only,on a small pot close to the start of the game. Expect to lose the hand. Let the other players see your hand. You're then established as a bluffer. Thereafter play only your good hands and don't bluff at all. Other than that,it's really down to experience...the more you play, the more you learn to read the table.Sometimes bluffing will work for you, sometimes it won't.There really is no hard and fast rule to it...it's an art,not a science in a game which is a science not a gamble. Good luck. |
