Only thing I notice that helps me win more, is that if it's cheap to see the flop, it's worth it, cause sometimes you get somethin' to put you on top...

Dont bluff on a low limit table ppl will always call & dont bluff a beginner. Unless i have a belter starting hand I like to fold the 1st couple of hands to see how ppl play. Some wait for ages to get on a table to go all in with the 1st hand they get. if your not a lucky person FOLD!

Lava did a good job on touching on the subject of folding ... most beginners just underestimate the power of folding. If you think how much u lose by calling the blind just to see the flop it adds up like crazy over time. The problem with beginners continues when they keep betting 15 or 30 in early rounds to see the turn and river cards, only to come up short when other players have much better hands the entire time. This was mentioned earlier --- out of all players, you have to have the BEST hand... always remember that. If you have kings and an ace flops, you could already be in big trouble. Other advice: pay attention. If you pay attention through many hands, you quickly learn the playing styles of others. In my opinion, sometimes it's worth it early on to call a 15 or 30 bet if it's the last card and everyone has continuously checked just to see what someones has. This tells you if they were really just checking because they had nothing or had a moderate hand but were worried someone else had a higher hand. This information is vital later on when the competition gets higher and you must play more accurately.

Summary : Play only good starting hands, fold a lot because poker isn't gambling, bet huge to avoid players draws after the flop, stay calm and take your time because if you survive more time you'll have more chances to been dealt good hands! You can't bluff a bad player and it's really hard to bluff a good player so NEVER BLUFF unless you are experienced a lot! Best advice i`ve seen, and it definatly makes sence ....

I think the best guide is to get your hand that your comfortable to paly and instead of trying to push people of it suck them in to betteing as much as you can get from 'em.Ofcourse it has to be a winning hand!! Don't play or bet with what you don't have..just my opinion..Of course if you go the bluff make it so they have to go all or nothing make hem think...hey they got it ?. Good luck guys

| sometimes a bet after the flop can show you a lot. but be aware: if your bet is to small, you will get calls by players with draws or weak hands too, if you bet to much you can loose a lot of money.

thanks lava, this seems like a good way to win, but if you are only playing the best hands, nobody will call you and will pick out that you are a very tight player kind of fast. anything can happen on the flop, it just depends how you want to play overall and your own styles. i think its more about playing consistantly with different hands so that they cant pick out what you have and just knowing how to not chase the hand or get too far into it so you can cut your losses

If you're new at poker and find yourself really bored sometime you can try this: Just sit with a deck of cards and deal out ten hands, a flop, turn river and so on. Take a look at what the hands end up being. You should notice that most hands are crap....these are the hands that probably should have been folded early. You may also notice that you don't have the winning hand often (I would guess about 10% of the time).....

Well, You guys say bluffing is very bad chance to win but if u come in a room with the min. chips and u do all in when u got good cards the most rich players bet high and then u sometimes win a lot. its a good way to get rich but not a nice style to play with BTW good thread Last edited by Henk8; 06-27-2008 at 06:31 AM..

I only browsed through this briefly, so I may be mistaken but it looks like no one has really touched on playing your position in terms of the button. For example, if you are the first to act (first to bet after the big blind) calling should really not be an option for you. If your hand isn't good enough to raise from this position (and I'm talking top 4 or 5 hands) then fold it. If you have a monster, then raise it up. If you have an average hand and then call, someone after you may raise it, and your forced to either call the higher bet with your average hand, or fold the blind. And if you do call, your always first to act, which isn't the most ideal place to be especially if you have alot of callers. So basically, the further to the left of the button you are gives you a good opportunity to sit back and see what other people do, and gives you a good opportunity to try and get a scope on their hand pre-flop. Of course this means that the big blind and the small blind can still raise on top of you, but as the small blind is the best place to be pre-flop, but the worst post-flop, this means you have position after the flop. Playing your position and always keeping an eye on where people are in terms to the dealer button is very important as it can hugely effect what cards they play against you. POSITION POSITION POSITION.

Here's a quik hint-- ever get one of those hands, say, on the flop where u think u have a good hand or leading hand but you are not sure where you stand with your opponents? Not knowing where u stand with a hand is VERY dangerous, because if one is betting, u could end up flat calling your hand dead, losing money. I would recommend to take action on the flop, if people call you on the flop, then there's a large chance they have either a good pair, a good draw (say, a 9 outed flush draw) or they could be slow playing a very good hand...which is annoying grr you could always check raise, also. A check raise indicates to those who UNDERSTAND what one is that you have a hand, and u kKNOW how to play it. Unfortunately, i've performed this manouvre with lower skilled plyrs who flat call with bottom pair thinking they're winning...or simply want to see if they can 'hit another 2'. This is risky to play, however, as your opponent may really have a hand- but hey, at least u'll find out, rather than betting and calling to the river. This way, if u do lose money, it won't be as much a loss ![]() It works for me, any you guys?

id like to share i great strategy, if you have 2 aces in your hand, and your competing against 4 other players, the chancers are, they dont really have the best of hands, and so do not bet 4 times as much as the blinds other wise they will suspect somthing. therre is a good strategy where you act as you have a bad hand but really you have a good ine. you might be thinking, but how do you make any profit of coins. well here it is: all you do is bet around 2 times the amount of the blinds up to the last card, then you bet a bit more, here you are sucking the other players in and eventually they might think he is bluffing because he bet small at the start, however this is just a trick in there mind, s remember SUCK THEM IN!
