Default Patience of Poker

I know it gets REALLY annoying always getting bad cards..

But, here is a tip:

ALWAYS BE PATIENT.

Do not bluff with bad cards every round, you'll loose your money.

I have patience while playing with my friends for real money!.
But at onlinepoker.. Getting bad cards wich will do you no good 20 rounds in a row gets you really frustrated!. and when there is one person winning ALL the time with terrific cards.

But yes, patience is the key!

What really sucks is when your beautiful cards have a beatiful flop and you lose to somebody who makes a bad call and catches the river.

That is frustrating.

Patience, is essential, but not enough to reach top tables. You also need to learn about all the strategies, styles of playing and tricks you can use to win...

i) First, you need to recognize good hands from bad hands. You need to see when a good hand becomes a bad hand during the flop, turn and river and vice versa, when a bad hand becomes a good one
iii) Once you play each hand correctly and you will reach a new level. Otherwise, good players will eat your stack in less than 10 rounds.
iv) But that's not enough, because if you stay with that strategy, it will only take good players 20 rounds to eat your stack.
v) You need to identify when other players are playing their hands badly and exploit their mistakes. That's where semi-bluffing, bluffing and all-ins come in. If you learn how to play these correctly, you will reach a new level of playing.
vi) But that is not enough, because it will take good players about 30 rounds to eat your stack.
vii) You need to practice different style of playing, and learn when to shift from one style to another.
viii) But that is not enough, because it will take good players about 40 rounds to eat your stack.
ix) Now we come to the real thing, you need to learn about all the tricks top players are using, playing position, squeezing other players, floating the flop, checking the M value of your stack etc, etc... and you need to keep up-to-date with the evolution of the game. Then you will start eating the stack of small players in less than 10 rounds !!!

It took me 3 months to get through all this, and yesterday, for the first time, I kicked out Baz and another top 5 player from the 500k mini-tournament table (after being kicked a bizillion times myself, of course). The feeling was really great, but it took me much more than patience and luck to achieve this !!! I have also managed to kick out other top players here and there. Although the balance is still much in their favor, the situation is progressively changing...

So basically you are saying to prepare for a good long kicking during which you sharpen your poker skills and so by suffering comes wisdom....

BOB Is the Best for patience here imo.
Ive seen him fold Loads of hands, then when he gets one he hammers every1!
hes the perfect example of patient play!

Also as usethefork said patience but you need more to be the gr8's!
so watch ppl like Baz, Worz, Dean etc.... then you will learn loads!
I watched Worzel play now and again, and hes awesome!!
I learnt a few things from him!
but cos my patience I dont really have good grip of it all LOL

I always notice players only decide what to do after about 15 seconds and they always do well

yep, patience is absolutelly crucial. getting bad cards at the beginning or throughout the game (is one still manages to survive), increases the chances of getting good cards latter on or at the end of the game. there are, of course, no rules or formulas. what I hate the most, is loosing patience especially when on low stack of chips...then rushing all in trying to double up with semi-good hands, you know those faces that really look good suited..... then loosing to a pair of aces or so... I can never avoid thinking that if I only folded the next turn would give me pocket aces.... and it very well might.
anyway , just an observation.
good luck getting goood cards! /P.S. even bad cards in the hand of a good player can become a killing machine.

I get so frustrated playing tournaments when you have those people who go ALL IN on the very first hand of the game before the flop is even shown... i really dont see a point in it...even if everyone folds, you get what...100 chips? its so annoying
