Default Question: Moving from Intermediate upwards

Hi everyone, difficult question in which there is no real answer, but here goes;

I've been playing a couple of weeks now and managed to amass around 300K of chips. Whilst this is a decent start, I feel my rate of progress is relatively slow.

I want to take it up to the next level (currently playing on 10k mini tourneys / 120bb on the rings), but I'm an extremely cautious player, such that I feel it will limit me against players that know how to manipulate the game.

So the question is this.
How can I improve my psychological game, without blowing away my bankroll?

Thanks

hmmmmmmmm thats a tough question.

stick to the mini's if your a tight player and try 20k and 40k turbo for a while as you move up the buy in's the rewards are greater for the top 3.
if that goes well then 100k/200k's after that.

do you play any of the fast mini table's ?? they tend to have good payouts as well

good luck

hi Rob
I dont think you can 'not' blow your bank roll. Just climb up the ladder and blow the lot. Its chips. Ive blown a few in my time, the higher you go the more blowing you get. Its probably the only way you can learn.

Tips?
Get good at the level your at - the 10k is a fair level - 20k is better(harder).
Be wary of the turbos, unless you're good at them.
Play Ultras for fun.
Practice Practice Practice.
You will lose - it will make you a better player.
Best tip - first watch the game higher, before you join in, to study the slight differences.
See ya on the mil in a week or two - a charge will be made.

Cheers everyone.

I played a 20K turbo tourney for the first time last night and finished second, more due to luck than anything else. I usually always finish in the top 3 if the tourney buy in is less than 5K, so something must be right I guess.

yes if you play tight sometimes others knock each other out and you end up in the money.
stick to the style your comfortable with.

If you are stopping yourself because of intimadation just go ahead and try. I remember being extremly scared to go into the 500k and Mammoth but after playing awhile you grow confidence. Nuture the confidene in your game before you move up it helps you focus and win.And remember know your game and practice, practice, practice. No chasing lol I stopped myself from chasing and its improved my own game.Good luck!

I think that the best table to play for someone goinh from lower buy-in tables to higher buy-in is the 40K turbo. Good payout and if you lose your don't lose too much. Good luck out there on the tables.
