hey all, i have a question. i was in a tournament where the blinds had become 1000/2000 and i stopped playing cards that i normally would, if the blinds were lower. eg i wouldnt play A6, A7 or basically any card that wasnt AT or above, should i be playing my aces and lower cards? and also, the same applies to kings, should i play them with lower cards? and finally, is it smart to play QJ? thanx

| Well, it's your call, but don't forget, if you haven't been playing many hands, you can easily bluff.

It is a really good question and one I often ask myself when calling A6 or K5 in big blinds. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't, depends on players and my mood.. I am sure other players can probably give better technical advice on this though,!

Just remember the other players will be thinking like you, waiting for the Aces with high kickers, suited or pockets. If you play your normal game and forget about the Blinds then surely you have a better chance.

I didn't play A 5 in the last big tourney and guess what it hit against 2 other players in the pot, hard to see the chips going to the other player lol and never got any more hands that did any good so went out. I have played similar hands and won the hand so............ Some you win some, some you lose. ( Sometimes poker can be so maddening )

REally depends also on the number of players left. Usually with such big blinds there are not that many and then you start to play more agressive in general. for the rest: also depends on position, table already opened or not, your chipstack, etc., etc.

I agree if there is only a couple of players left A5 is a good hand

Yes and if your reach a HU before the flop Ax could be a playable hand

If you have an ace most likely you're the only one with an ace at the table. So play it like you have a strong kicker. If anybody is calling your bets, then think of what they can have. Also think of their stack, and what kind of player they are. Number 3, if you are playing with only a very small stack of chips, and you were raised all in don't call. Other way around, if you have big stack, and you have a bad kicker try to isolate a small stack player and see if you can get them to fold on the flop.
