When i get a good hand for example ace, queen suited should i raise or not. i always think if i raise to much money then everyone will fold and i will waste a good hand. But then if i dont raise then a player that does not have a good hand could win the pot. How much do u think i should raise with a good hand?

you need to vary your play. if you dont then it wont take people long to suss out what type of hand you have just by the way you bet.

Raise, but don't go overboard, some one will always buy into your raise and once they're committed you have them on a fishing line further on in the game when they'll continually call you. Also, if you raise, you're more likely to get rid of the players who start with say 5 and 8, which can become a nasty straight. Raise and eliminate early, if you've got AA, AKs, AQs, AJs, AK, KK, AQ, QQ, AJ, JJ then you should be aiming to raise the pot (PRE FLOP!) at about 3 or 4 times the big blind. If I don't have a face card, I'll fold. If I have a face card and a kicker of less than 8, I'll fold. I'm crap though, so you may want to ignore my advice! ![]()

I have played good hands both ways. Sometimes limping in can be good also. It all dependes on the Flop,Turn and River to detemine who will win the hand in the end.

i think u shouldnt raise until everybody calls then when the flop comes u keep betting or if someone bets b4 u then raise thats what i do and i usually get more money like that

Whatever you do though, be prepared to lose some good starting cards. Pushing hard with KK before flop can be easily lost to someone holding A3, and the more players on the table the more likely this will be. Hope that helps ![]()

Rule of thumb: With premium hands you should raise preflop 3-5 time the big blinds depending on their height and your ressources plus eventually one blind per limper before you (if applicable). If you wait for the flop and let everyopne call in, your hand is very likely to loose its value because anything could come out of the flop and a weak hand preflop can very well become a winner. Bet post flop but fold if you are raised unless you hit a very solid flop. This should maximize your value on premium hands. It is not about what happens one time, but how you play these hands over times. Odds will be in your favor. Now that is only a rule of thumb. You of course have to vary your play, take into consideration the stage of play you are in, your stack, value of blinds, your aim (make it in the money or points or go for 1st place), etc.

mix it up, but i like to raise these hands heavily alot of the time, cause if you dont, more players will call, making it harder to win, i have lost so many hands with AK trying to get everyones chips. i normlly now go 5 times the big blind with QA/KA.

I think raise most of the time as Sternswiss says. Personally I don't care if people know that when I raise I've got a good hand, after thats the message I am trying to give! Also sometimes I might raise without one (shock horror). The fun comes when there is someone who is on the table who raises every hand. Best ploy then check wait for them to raise then stick in a massive raise. Mostly they fold but sometimes they re-raise and you call them and lose! But thats poker.. lol Mac

if you raise pre-flop it does tell people you've got a good hand. but i agree with mac on this one, it really doesnt matter. here you will get called virtually every time anyway, its not real money and there are loads of calling stations out there who will call you. so dont worry that you are tipping them off, in my opinion under these circumstances it really does not matter.

Someone will call you in a tournament, there's always one. Why waste a decent opportunity to earn yourself some more chips? You'll have to raise eventually if you want to earn your keep. ![]() Plus if you're raising you look like the aggressor and that'll change the dimension of the game. Edit: Only time I'd slowplay if it was against a bully, and you can pull out a huge re-raise on the river.

| If you know that there are aggressive players just bet 3/4 times the big blind and most of the aggressive players will either call or all in if they have a slightly worse hand .. Most of the aggressive guys over play their hands even if they know they'll be starting with 40% chance of winning. On Ultra-fast tables definitely go ALL-IN, I'm sure someone will call then it all goes down to luck ![]()
