Default showing youre cards?

Hi, just wondering about youre thoughts concerning showing you`re hand? i really only play the outlaws tourneys here now. along with a few other cash tourneys. and in the outlaws i nearly always show my hand. my thinking being i play these guys and gals all the time, so i like to show my friends what i had(i rarely show in other tourneys). but yesterday joya suggested that maybe i shouldn`t show all the time. and i thought about it for a while, and he is right. people can see that i mainly play with strong hands, and rarely bluff. but with joya and roo you never know what they are gonna do. in other words, when i show every hand, other players can see what kind of mood i`m in, am i playin loose/agressive? tight/cautious? well i`m telling everyone by always showing my hand. any thoughts?...

like you jimmy in outlaws i probably show to much but then we tend to be playing with friends there and we kind of know each others play pritty well already any way i dont tend to show as much in any other cash torny i use it more then as a tool to premot a stile of play that i want the rest of the table to THINK i'm playing be that a agresiv or pasiv 1 depending on the game thats going on around me but as i do tend to be a very losse agresiv play i do probapl show to much but then with my stile of play i find that when the table thinks in playing lose and bluffing lots this works in my faver

Depending, sometimes i want to show players that im tight, sometimes that im donkey, but on real real money tourneys showing only good hands,
dont want that they maybe think that i bluffing sometimes.

But, on outlaws tourney, there, i just play poker with my friends and have fun!

P.S. just bluffed one guy, who knows that im tight and take him 2000 chips, what y think mi show him my cards

id say this is a good exsampel of when NOT to show as if he thinks your a tight player then you only want to be showing him when you have the nuts as that will leave him with the impretion your not bluffing letting you slip in a good bluff now and then and get away with it like you just did why show your bluff here just for a little braging when you can not show and use the move againg

I only do it on the invitational games.. The reason being, it is not as hard core as a larger tournament.

i show quite regulary on the free side, then i have a day when i dont, dont know why..

show very very rearly on real money tho.

i wish we had the option when showing hands to just show 1 of the 2 cards, you'd be great that, add to the mind games for real money

I have no strategic reason to show cards other than to show people that they made the correct decision to fold so they feel good about their play. In outlaws I show a lot because it is a nice loose friendly game. I even show my bluffs from time to time to just rub it in a little, as others do in return.
In other tournaments I very rarely show because I don't want it to be misunderstood or appear arrogant.

I never show my cards, since I've learned its sometimes easier to read people that do. I don't want anyone to know if I'm bluffing or actually have something. I'll tell sometimes if asked, but only if it was a strong hand.

i understand why you never show you`re hand breezy, but do you not think that it can give yoiu an advantage to show when you have the nuts? like roo says, it makes you`re bluffs more believable..

showing your cards is totally strategic. if you are winning with bluffs, and oponents are getting suspicious, show when you win with a good hand and remind them that calling is dangerous, this will help bluffs in the future. never, ever show a bluff hand that wins without it being called . it is disrespectful and advertises that you bluff. it can also cause oponents to start gunning for you which may make it harder to play. it is always best to win quietly and show respect to others.... xx shirl xx

That is a good point. But I am so erratic (one day bluff like hell, the next go all the way to the river with a full house flop just checking bets, and then the next day go all the way with crap), that it wouldn't probably make much of a difference for me. I'm too inconsistant and people that I play know that.

yes, i have to agree with all you`re points there shirl. it is very disrespectful to show you`re bluffs. although we do show each other bluffs on the outlaws tourney sometimes, which is ok cause were all good friends there..
