i show and dont show for many reasons,,,my advise ,,never give me ANY help in reading ya.. lol

I never bluff so this strategy wouldn't help me. There is no respect in the outlaws tournies, just a good time and a lot of banter. I'm not paranoid - everyone is always gunning for me - I don't understand why.

Showing bluffs is a great way to get players on tilt and to get them to call when you really do have a hand.

I rarely show cards online as I normally forget to press the button in time, I do however occassionally show in brick and mortar games. This is generally strategic. Betting and showing a strong hand can earn respect for a bluff while betting and showing a bluff can get action later on when you have a hand, the key is betting the same as the hand when you showed.

The other thing is to put the player on tilt. As an example in a brick and mortar tourney a couple of months back I was on final table with about 13k while chip leader to my left had about 35k. I'd put a feeler bet on a flush draw and chip leader tried to bully me with a big raise (it turned out he had middle pair and a good kicker). I countered by re-raising all-in as a semi-bluff. Chip leader folded saying he thought I had him beat and I showed my cards which wound him up. I now had about 20k to his 29k.

Two hands later I hit top two pair on the flop which also showed a flush draw. Instead of a normal value bet I again put in a small feeler bet. Chip leader again raised big (this time with top pair) and I was again able to counter with an all-in raise. After what had gone on previously chip leader called and ran in to my two pair leaving me on 40k and him on 9k from which he was shortly eliminated by playing too rash.

As with all aspects of the game there are good and bad examples but I think that occassionally showing cards does have strategic value.

I never show my hand ever. But that could be because i only just realised what muck losing button meant.
People that are allways showing there hands are much more easily read by good players.

Ill bluff and show once or twice (usually with 3-8 off or whatever) to try and put people on tilt, then play good hands the same way I bluffed bad ones so people call and I get more cash. Kinda like "hustling".

Hustling? No, artwork. I think that's the skill to playing this game. To get people to play the hands 'you' want them in and then getting them out when you don't. Never like when I have high trips or an Ace high Flush(or better!!) and bet to heavy and lose the action. Always think it was a misplay by me!! Put simply, I think the betting is the key to a good poker player being a better(sorry about the pun) poker player.

Good Luck,
Chipmonkey

Well thank you. I might have read that wrong, but the second part you mentioned sounds more like slowplaying. What I'm saying is bet high more often with inferior hands and then show them to people, then bet the same when you get good hands (switching to conservative play) so people think it's a bluff. I'm not trying to be rude but what you're saying kind of sounds like the opposite.

I think its good to show a bluff every now and again just to let people know you dont always have the winning hand
