One of the most common things I hear around a poker table when you say .... "you called me with that!!!???" is ......."but it was suited". Suited hands always look more attractive and are over valued. 2 cards being suited are great, but if your only calling because they are suited, your not going to do too well.
If you forget the basic rule of playing connectors or semi-connectors, then your ending up with bad hands like k-8 suited or A-6 suited, and the only thing you can hope for is a flush or to get lucky and flop 2 pair or trips. This is something that isn't going to happen very often.
You should only really count the "suited factor" as additional options to a strong starting hand.

Suited hole cards are only a minor bonus, it's better to play for high pairs, two pair and sets. A flush aint easy to get

Do the math: before flop the odds that there will be 3 matching cards on the table are about 7% or 1 to 15.

The odds for 4 matching cards on the table are about 1.5%.

Suppose there are 2 matching suited cards after the flop, the chances of hitting a third are 44%.

Be also aware of the heights of your cards, especially if there are four suited cards on the table: your flush can be beaten if you have a "low" card.
