No idea. I've participated in one and lost everything in first 2 hands

Althou, what i've seen on TV choises varies. Some1 gamble, some1 play careful. I dont know what is better but i can tell you one thing, if you gamble and win you get advantage and if you play smart then you might find yourself steaming soon. Cos its not only 1 table and competition increases, so you eventually get tired. Probably depends on your steam control and patience levels...

I always try to take it easy in the big tourneys. Just fold any low or mediocre hands preflop and then when you do get a good hand bet big on it. When I first started playing the big tourneys I tried to play way too many hands and my stack just got slowly eaten up.

Since I've been using this strategy my game has been gradually improving and now I've finished 1st in the 1k multi

In a big tourney I like to sit back and watch the "all in" crowd drop like flies.

+1

Absolute premium hands only at the start until all the "larry loose" players knock eachother out.

Important: Take advantage of the foolish newbie betting early on (try the occasional slow play, trick them into thinking you have nothing). This will give you enough chips to last at least until the blinds are up. If you can be conservative and add chips to your stack every now and then, it's easy to make the top 15.

When there's 20-25 players left, and the blinds are pretty steep, that's when things start getting interesting. Occasionally, if you're in need of chips, and everyone else is playing "carefully" - try buying the pot. At this stage in the tournament, all everyone else is thinking about is being careful and making the final table. Use that to your advantage.

But NEVER over use the same technique, otherwise the other players will notice this and use it against you. Always try to think like your opponent - it's all about psychology, put yourself inside their mind. Are they chasing? Do they have a high pair? Or are they just trying to blatently steal the pot? Don't just think about your hand, think outside the box.

In the beginning you should try to trap people with str8's and flushes, the longer you stay in the game the more tight you should play

I just try not 2 chase hands.Leave myself as many outs as possible.Bet a pair when you also have STR8 or flush draw. That kind of thing.Sometimes you just have 2 get lucky.I know I did.

How low should you let your chip stack get before pushing all in with noting to try double up,

I can't offer much on this subject but i played a bit more aggressive the closer i got to final table, i learnt alot tonite and played a different game to my usual one.

All i can say is pick your hands carefully and never be afraid to fold.
