Default 6th Card ?

I have been playing for only a short time. Some people I play with say that if the best five cards are on the board then the pot splits. Some say that even if the best hand is on the board then who ever has the highest card wins. The second theory sounds a little fishy?

if you are talking about Texas Holdem, if the best hand is on the table then the pot splits. If one of your cards makes that hand better then you win.

For example

Your hand : 10h 2s
Opponants hand: 9h 7c

Board 4h 5h Jh 2h Kh

Heart flush on the board, but since you have a ten of hearts that is higher than the four or five, and they have a nine of hearts you win.

It is the combination of the best 5 cards.

Me thinks Keele is out to get his 5 posts and 20k free chips! Thanks, 'Lava

Keele... if you are playing Texas Hold 'Em, you have 2 hole cards and 5 community cards. The best 5-card hand wins... if there is a tie, the pot is split. The 6th and 7th cards mean nothing!

Welcome to OP66! Enjoy the family here!

Cheers!

p.s. Looks like you just need 2 more posts to get the free 20k chips!

Yes, I am new and I would like to have the extra credits but this is an argument that I have been having with some individuals who like to rewrite the rules when they are not doing so well. These will not be my last post. I am one of those people who like to have the facts and a little back before I get into some kind of confratation. Thank you for proving me right. I will probably ask some retorical questions so plaese be patient.

It's all good, friend!

Welcome to the family, here!

You don't have to be mad to fit in, but it sure does help!

Once you have your quota and get your bonus, I might add as a helpful suggestion that use of the search facility here will often yield the answer to your question --- if you've thought it, imagine that many others before you have probably thought it as well. There's a rich history of information within the forum here.

Also, feel free to drop by the chat facility... sometimes it can be a bit dead, but even if you sit there alone for a few minutes, someone is probably bound to stop by... another area where you can get help... a fellow forum member was most helpful to me there earlier today (thanks, Bobble!).

Cheers!
