All Gold Medal Winners..........

Wouldnt it be nice to have a monthly tourny for all the gold medal winners of every calander month....It could be played on the first day of the following month and maybe gold,silver and bronze stars could be awarded to the first three......They would be a very prestigious addition to your personal stats page and every winner would be deemed player of the month......All gold star winners could then play at the end of the year and the winner of that would be deemed player of the year....OP66 staff could decide on a prize for each monthly winner and of course player of the year.....I know KingPete is pretty busy but he would be the ideal man too run such tournies....What does everyone think........

I like the idea. It was suggested in a similar format many moons ago but never got taken up. If nobody else wants to own it Lynda you could take ownership yourself and book an invitational table on 1st of the month. The only drawback I can see is the time zone issue but otherwise I would like to see it get off the ground.

Love the idea, Lynda!~ great thinking, and kudos to you for putting it out there.
However, I would have two concerns in the logistics of it.
first:- at 4 tourneys/day , that would mean approximately 120 golds earned in a month ( barring any repeats ). so you're talking about a tourney that would have , say, 100 entrants. no problems with large tourneys, but.....
second:- as Jockney hinted,... getting those 100 players to be able to meet at one time could be pretty rough.

*ahem* not to beat a dead horse, but ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE HAVENT BEEN ADDITIONAL INVITES ADDED FOR ADDITIONAL CONVENIENCE!!

Of course your concerns about logistics is a valid one MrC and Jockney but the size of the field cannot be a major obstacle to overcome as the OP66 tournies now regularly attract over 100 entries..As for the times,Iam sure with a little bit of common sense something could be worked out.This site is crying out for player of the month/year recognition to put to bed once and for all the debates going on at present regarding top lists,credits etc...there can not be a more honest and fair way to pick these players, then the players doing it themselves on the tables...These tournies could and in my opinion would be the most prestigious tournies in the OP66 calendar and I dont think a late/early start time (once a month) would deter anyone lucky enough to be ably to play in them....

MrC,just in case there is any misunderstanding,these tournies should not be looked upon as invitational and it would be all gold medal winners right to take part.That is why I suggested KingPete to run them as he is the medal man as such...It would have to have the support of OP66 and be recogised as legitimate OP66 tournies.The gold,silver and bronze stars would be a legitimate and recogised OP66 prize....Iam certain,in time these stars would become more valuable then even the present gold medals as you would have only once chance per month to win one and that is if you were lucky enough to be able to enter in the first place.........

Great Idea, but the logistics could be a nightmare as you would need to keep track of who won and when to be sure they are eligible.

that's right about the logistic... Very hard to setup otherwise than manually with a password

BUT satellites tournaments are in development and I bet they could be used for that matter, we'll see.
I will at first setup everything written in my thread about toplist from yesterday but if you think it won't be that messy to manually setup a monthly winners tournaments then the invitational tourney could match for now.

I don t agree with idea calling winner of tourney player of the month. Everybody can win poker game and i m sure as we are all from differant time zones at least 50% of players could not make it(I m sure more could not play it).So no. If monthly gold top list may be added i m ok with that. We even had monthly points top list on old script. Every list have its purpose so lets not forget players who play only ring tables and sit and goes. They would not be added there so it would be unfair.

Lol Sally,yes you would need to win a gold medal to be eligible to play.Can you imagine playing in a tourny that everyone sitting with you has been skilled enough to win a gold medal that given month..Not alone would it be fantastic to play but Iam sure you would have so many more watching also too add too the excitment.Unlike any other tournie,you couldnt buy into this one and would be there simply because you are. one of the best....Cuddy made a good point also,but Iam sure records are kept of all tournies and I dont think anyone would be silly enough to disrespect such a prestigious event.....To Blacklava...I know it would not be easy to set up and would take time,but you got a brilliant team behind you and I know they would get it right.....

Ok Danzi,Good points you make.First of all we all know how hard it is too win a gold medal,but as you said anyone can get lucky and win a tournie.Too win a tourny such as this you would not only need to get lucky once but then face tables full of gold medal winners and no matter how lucky you are I doubt it would be enough to get past all of them....Time zones are an obvious problem,but as I said with careful consideration that too could be handled in such a way that everyone could be happy with...As for the people that only play on the rings and sit and go,I dont think they would be too bothered anyway.

If it's for player of the year for tourneys, that's what the top list is for and 2008 it was Danzi.
I dont see the need for any other. The monthly toplits one as Danzi says would be fine, but taken from the tourys played in that 30 day time frame as before.
Times zones and being able to play could make unfair for some people.

No diva big tourneys can t decide best player of the year or month. There are many players who can play and lets be honest not many players played more tourneys than me so i can t be nor i want too be best player. There are players on other lists(or they are not even on lists) who can play too i won t say names but they don t play big tourneys or did not have time too play them as much as me. And in the end lets not forget who left us!!! Lets all play for fun and enjoy at least that s what i m doing this year and lets forget top lists everyone can hold top list this don t mean he is the best.

I think we are moving away from from the main point here.To name any winners of them monthly tournies as player of the month was only a suggestion and Iam sure any monthly top list would be fine and of course the same would apply to who ever tops the yearly toplist...The main thing would be too get all the gold medal winners together in one monthly tourny as recognition for winning a gold medal in the first inst....Of course some would not be able to play for whatever reason,but they would be entitled too if the so wished.............

I know what you mean, they are many great players on here and a lot who left when we moved and I agree with you play for fun.
The toplist are really just nice to see your name there, as everyone plays different amounts and as you say many don't play the tourneys or can't play much because of the lag and bugs, it will never be a level playing field on any of the lists, so what the heck just enjoy your poker

I remember Danzi when you were top of the tourny, gold and chip list, when you played more. That takes some doing hun xx
