banned from chat all sorry all my friends

hi all its great to be back my welcome back on the tables was great was so happy at the response i got off all the great players and friends, only to be a short lived chat as it looks i,l never be able chat again on the tables sorry all my friends and players, i was understand that this was a friendly site, i really really do think they need to look at the rules again and have some changes, we can only do this if we all stick together, yes my chat is banned, i was aloud to talk for week, it would ov been nice to say goodbye to all on the chat side i will stay and play here, i have spoke to a few players and i had an idea for the free chip side if anyone is rude or abusive on tables why dont they get a chip fine that way people will still be on the site as a lot are leaving or have been banned but thats just my opinion , otherwise thares guna be no players left. the tournys are getting less and less players, and in the end thares gunna be no tournaments... the only way i do agree with a lifetime ban if people are cheating .....as a few many players do know i,v had a lot ov bad problems in my life lately which has resulted in me not playing or speakin as i usually do, as we all have bad times in our lives at one point nobody is perfect.... we could have tournaments whare thares no restriction thare as it will all be in fun and not malice, nothing would be intended to be personal just good all fun.... i know i do get grumpy at times but we all do sum think it funny when i do lol... we need to buld this site back to the once great site it was,as i seen the response on this thread that people know i can be good lol....... i was gunna ask for my chat to be banned, the reason being is i dont want to get banned off the site for good i have a lot of friends here that has made me so welcome on the tables. and i have missed all players alot and ido still wish to play here...we all options 2 player chat block u can use it if u wish is that not better if u do not wish hear there moanin

Reaps i have only played with you maybe a dozen times and i have never seen you do one of your tirads but did see you apoligize for one. Seemed pretty harmless but i was not the one that got it,your apology was very sincere to me and i say remove chat ban but the powers to be are the final say as always. Good luck bud....

Looking at it as unbiasedly as possible: It seems either the mods aren't allowed to discuss details or are in the dark themselves. But who does it protect not to discuss the issue if both Mr. and Mrs. reaps seem ok to discuss it in a civilized manner? It's almost like the whole banning procedure is one big mess anyway and that's why it's almost a taboo subject. I mean the fact that Reaper got accidentally unbanned from chat shows who messed up the whole thing is.

I'm just glad we can chat to you buddy, at least you'll get our comments and I'll just make up yours in my daft head lol. I've always found that you will apologise the next day for any rant, quite a few players in my recollection would rant just as you do and make it right the next day, some of our nicest people have done this without a ban, Mr Slick upset Kitty, he made his apologies the next day and all was well. I can think of a good few similar instances, Tiddly once ranted at me one night but P.M'd me the next day. I think it would be a crying shame to lose a great guy because of the odd rant. The Grumpy Old Gits tourney would not be grumpy if no one was allowed to moan at each other.

Reaps, it is nice to see ya back...and was glad to be able to chat the other day with ya...I hate that ya won't be able to respond to ppl. talkin' to ya.... I'm glad you are gonna stay and play anyway...I don't know that I could handle not bein' able to chat at the tables...
I have seen ya moan...and be grumpy, however I don't know many that hasn't had 'em kinda days...and the one thing I gotta say I admire the fact you are man enough to apologize....when ya think ya was in the wrong.

ya, the only things i wouldnt stand on chat would b bullying, cheating or racism. rants and such like else i find harmless - the various insults & tantrums that fly off on 15/30k nl i find hilarious & tbh theres prolly a lot of us who could get a chat ban if mods wanted to. tis a shame reaps u cant chat but happy to see u stickin with the site ^^

As has been noted many, many, many times in other threads, it is a courtesy that the moderators do not discuss a ban with anyone but the person involved through either PM or email as not everyone would WANT their ban discussed here. So there it is, the double edged sword.

Why someone would be banned is crystal clear in the rules, what length or severity the ban might be is initially up to the mod enacting it, but there is also a method to discuss it with the higher authority if the player disagrees.

If someone gets a lifetime ban, it is because there is no other alternative, either the rule broken was at an exception level the first time or there are multiple smaller offenses and warnings and even short term bans prior to having them leave the site.

If you want the dirt on a ban, ask the player involved, if they want to share, so be it but we have not in the past, and are not likely in the future to provide detailed analysis and supporting documentation on our actions to the forum as a whole for just this reason.

i am no angle all. but u do had player option chat bann...if i hav offended eney 1 i will say sorry not personal..just as all knows me well iam grumpy lol..so please never take it personal but why bn for month then give me chat for a week. then ban chat again wats that story, i aint done or said anything wrong in the past week i,v been back...we all must try n help 2 make site wat it was..

Yes there was, a specific rule that was broken and a name was listed and if I recall the length or severity of punishment. It was a "Named and Shamed list" as there was no where else to go to find out why you were banned or fined. That has been long gone as there is now an email to address this. It was also there to try and discourage breaking the rules, the most abused being where people with too many chips went on the newbies tables and wiped out new players who were just learning.

Mr. Reaps,

I for one have been very very disgusted in the way you have treated me over the years. You not only belittle me, you mock, spit upon and take my chips. I was so happy for your chat ban, I thought about playing again...

I will really mis all of that above, you despite taking my chips have made the joint a little bit better with your antics. Cannot be said enough, the place is not the same, never will be so we must adapt and get use to it.

But are THEY free to talk about it? It seems like when people get in trouble they fear talking about it. Maybe it's just them walking on eggshells after the punishment, but in the past it seemed "the punished" were reluctant to talk about it b/c of possible repercussions, not because they were uncomfortable discussing the issues. But again I'm definitely an outsider and could easily be misinterpreting all these threads due to their vague nature.
