Question Best Tournament Player?

Been watching plenty of poker online, and wanted to know who you guys thought was the best tournament player.

Aside from Phil Ivey, whom I think is the best all rounder, Im torn between Eric Seidel and Jason Mercier. Both excellent tournament players and fearless to say the least. My pick would have to be Eric Seidel though... always plays his hands to perfection, seems to always know where he's at, makes some of the most impressive hero calls...and probably had the best year (2011) of his career.
Always enjoy watching him play.

So who'd you think is the best tournament player, and why?

Tictalk is the best tournament player of Outlaws. Very bad that DanReeves isn't playing these games.

As for WSOP - Phil Ivey.

well if we're going this direction: I think speaking purely from results, rad6 I've noticed does consistently well. She's got a good game. Knows when to lay low and when to pounce.

I knew you were, but I had to jump on the OTHER topic when everyone kept bringing it up. Hard to say best pro as when I watch on TV it only shows the select hands.

True, but then again I do watch too much poker lol. My answer was pretty much results orientated....Seidel is such a great player, and like I said Mercier is also an incredible tournament player, was torn between the two.

yeah I was on a mercier kick for awhile. ALWAYS respected Seidel. I'd say Juanda gets quite a bit of respect from me too, and of course Ivey. Gus Hansen is a genius as well

Honestly another: Phil Helmuth. Everyone hates, but again I think a lot of this is bad press. He's won SO many bracelets, and haters say that was just "back in the day" but he was really close in the Player of the Year running this year.

Juanda's a good player indeed.... "I'm aww eeen"

Not a big fan of Helmuth...YES he has loads of bracelets, but I'm gonna havta go with the haters and say "back in the day" :P

Now a player with pretty much just as many bracelets, who was good back in the day, and is still awesome now is Johny Chan. Think he's better than Helmuth IMO. Helmuth just tries sooo hard to outplay his opponents that he ends up trapping himself lol.

I agree Johnny Chan is really good. Wasn't the biggest fan for awhile though because I feel like the movie Rounders overrated him (at the same time as underrating Seidel).

But Helmuth... hate 'em as a person. Find him obnoxious and annoying, especially with his disrespect at the table and showiness when entering a tournament. However you can't claim his success was only back in the day because of all his recent success. Overall he has most bracelets AND most cashes and 8th in total WSOP money won (of course luck sack Jamie Gold is first).

This year alone he made 6 cashes, 4 of them top 10 finish, 3 of those 2nd place. Yes he has his bad moments, but the TV shows us every single one and neglect to show all the great ones.

So yeah I hate him too, but I have to put him on a toplist of tourney players if I'm making the list.
