A Contest For Players

I was thinking we should have a contest to motivate players to play the tournaments which are sometimes hard to fill and get cancelled.
We could have a players of the month contest. Like the player who wins the most medals, the players who gets the most points and the most top 5 finishes. The reward could be chips or 1 LP. Tell me what you think and what the reward should be.

So in the past, this was a bit of a 'beauty contest' and it went bad... and was ultimately cancelled because of so many hard feelings. What you offer here is a tad bit different, as it's based on objective data, as opposed to being a popularity contest.

As for prizes, though... it's difficult... the site has never allowed chips (including the LP, of course) as a prize offering, nor are you (since you own more than the rest of the site combined!!!) allowed to pass an LP yourself!

So that leaves........ CREDITS...... I guess some are still motivated by this useless currency, but hey... you can also run this contest and just let the winners enjoy the adulation of all the adoring OP66 fans!

Sweeny you got the ball rolling..just a suggestion or rather an add on to your suggestion is to be able to work out generous credits to the top 3 winners of best positions across all tourneys..as we can say-PLAYER OF THE MONTH
with top 3 names..i dont know if the LP structure can work but surely credits or similiar perks can be offered by op66..but yes i think the idea of more awards in any sort of way may boost the overall tourney structure..good move there Sweeny..

Pete - I actually could care less about winning the $'s in the tourny (or fake chips) - I am sure that most of us only play for the metals. so yes, they are enough and more.

hey pete imo your medals are the best incentive for playing in
the major tournies keep up the brilliant work m8.

sadly for me i don't get to play many now since the start time
was brought forward and i suspect it's the same for many other's.

and btw sweeney any idea to try and motivate player's is worth a try.

The timings seem to be the biggest problem at the moment but as Del says any idea to boost entries can only be encouraged. As far as the GMT players are concerned six o'clock start is awkward for workers, they are left with the option of staying up late for the NY times or getting up early for Wombats then posting and folding when work calls, not easy but I suppose it suits people in different time zones, I don't suppose they can please everyone. The big gainer is the STL tourney, that is perfect for Brits.
