Default Im confused

im confused... yep.. lol. ive been playing here for some time now and thought i had picked up most of the rules in poker, but im a little confused with how a hand played out. I hope someone can explain the rule to me for the following hand....

player one had 6 10 and player two had 6 7. the flop was 8 6 6 so both had trips sixes so far. the turn card was Ace and the river was 9 so the board was showing 8 6 6 A 9. Now, player one won the pot, so im guessing because he had a higher kicker card.. the 10. but i thought if the board had a higher kicker card, ie the Ace, than any other player in the hand the pot was shared. can someone explain the exact rule on this please. many thx.
fut.

The amount of kicker cards depends on the actual hand,

Three of a kind has two kicker cards

So if Player one had 6,10, the flop was 8,6,6 the turn was A and the river was 9 then Player One's top hand is 6,6,6,A,10 (10 being the 2nd kicker card)

Player two had 6,7, the flop was 8,6,6, the turn was A and the river was 9 then Player two's top hand is 6,6,6,A,9 (9 being the 2nd kicker card)

Therefore the 2nd kicker card of 10 won the pot for Player one

Hope this explains the rule

fab look at it this way only five cards are played. top kicker in this case the ten wins, same would apply if both had trips higher kicker would win, hope this helps.

always down to 5th card, 1 kicker quads or 2 pair, 2 kickers for a set
