Default limits

just wondering what limits people set when playing rings. time, win or loss ect. and why.

i tend to leave if i doubled my buy in. more through fear of losing it. could be where im going wrong tho, leaving when im on form or my luck is in.

wouldnt mind hearing the pros and cons of tactics that others use

unless I have a perfectly clear head and only lost my money on clear bad beats I walk away after I lose one buy in. If doubling up was a sweat I walk away then. If it was like a shark eating a fish, I'll stick around. If I ever feel in the least bit scared I tighten way up and leave before the BB comes around to me again. Also, Chris Ferguson's rule is if your money on the table is ever more than 10% of your Entire bankroll (e.g., you have $100, bring $4 of it to a table, you should leave when you get up to $10.68 because that $10.68 plus the $96 you didn't bring to the table is $106.68 and 10% of that is $10.67). So in general if you want to stick around past a double up, you shouldn't past a triple up.

Hope this helps. Any particular instance prompting this question?

haha I just sat down and more than tripled up in 8 hands (that's what I'm talking about) and had that same feeling but after a few more hands heads up against a volatile player I figured it best to walk away anyway.

But if this happens and it's best to walk away you can always get your fix in a quick SnG or play chip table. I do that some.

you gotta try your luck sometimes i mean you win some you lose some

Good luck

I also tend to leave a table if I've doubled up, I will join another table with my original stake though.
I'll only ever join with between 5-8% of my bankroll.
It is best to set a time limit after which you can walk away, up or down. Playing 'forever' increases your chances of blowing your stake, cos when you're all in with aces there's a chance you'll lose the lot. (yes, more chance of winning but continue playing and it will be cracked)

Set a time limit for your game, not a win limit.
When your time is up, leave whether you are winning or losing.
2 hours is long enough to be sitting at a table.
One hour is probably best in one sitting, unless you have nothing else to do with your time.
( in which case you need to think about your life and where it's going ).

Only leave before your time limit if the pain gets too great, there's always another day...
