Relaxing and social activity

2.How did you learn to play?
Played with my change jar in the service, got pretty good and started playing with folding money. Play here because everyone was so nice when I started, as opposed to some other sites I tried where there were way too many trustees of modern chemistry and no moderators to keep it civil.

Vary your game.

I started playin' in tourney locally even though gamblin' is against th law here...then came here....although a bit different from playin' with guys with real money on the table...but did learn some from here...

Havin' at deck of cards on my grandparents kitchen table...My Papa (Grandfather) taught me almost every kind of poker there is...not Texas holdem tho...but if ya know how to play poker, the concept is pretty much the same.

My buddy Auggie gave me some advice and it has helped me with my game here...LoL, and that's not to let "GITS" like you bully me out of a pot... Heart ya shugha...

4.What do you love most about the game?
I love cards and poker, especially when I can get a good serious game with friends....But gotta say Those wonderful medals are great incentive..

5.What was you proudest,most exciting moment so far?
My first Gold medal will never forget that feelin'....Winnin' The Hets...and gettin' a royal flush...(hasn't happened to me but once in almost 3 yrs.)

6.What would your advice be to a new player?
To be paitent....Don't let the all-inners beat ya at this game...

I love to gamble in just about everything I do. Sometimes that means taking chances. Hmmmmm maybe thats why I don't have a boyfriend!!!!

My father and brothers played all kinds of poker from 5-card draw to- 2's, one-eyed jacks and soon on wild.

Know your opponents and be patient when it's time to kill.

The aspect of gambling in general and on this site, it's now the people coz it aint the poker.

Remembering my login and password. Meeting a now good friend on here, but, it really has to be taken Dean out of a OP tourney when he was on a role and thought he was tough ****. Oh, did I say that lol.

6.What would your advice be to a new player?
Don't play bingo, play with people who love the game for what it is supposed to be about. You will learn the game and your oppenent quicker.

1.Why poker? Did you see on tv,play at home?
I played a little 5 card draw and 7 stud growing up. Never put money on it and usually turned the channel when it was on TV. Home games with friends Junior and Senior year in college got me into it more seriously.

2.How did you learn to play?
I learned from home games some and OP66. One of my roommates who was the biggest into poker would give me advice over my should here and there. Eventually I read a couple books and articles too to give me insight.

3.Whats the best advice you ever got,or heard or read?
wow so much good stuff. I guess one of the best is play opposite your opponent. Tight when opponent's loose, aggressive when opponent's tight.

4.What do you love most about the game?
The social aspect mixed in with the adrenaline rush and the challenge to always improve my game.

5.What was you proudest,most exciting moment so far?
Anytime I finish 1st in a MTT is a proud moment

6.What would your advice be to a new player?
Until you get a good feel for the game tight is right. If that's boring then entertain yourself by being social.

Did play a lot in high school, in college and during my first years of work in India, but other games than Hold'em or omaha, which are the two games I play now.

Then 2007 I was living in NL. With my then gf, we watched sometimes late tv stoned and we both liked poker, so we watched, but I had trouble to follow since I diodn't know the "new" (for me then) games.

Those were rather unhappy and unsatisfying times for different reasons, and I told myself I needed an "intelligent hobby" (had been an active competition chess player in my youth), so I started to follow shows, read tips on the internet and then books, gradually play in casinos etc. That's when I discovered good ole OP.


2.How did you learn to play?

With buddies at school as a teenager and then with books, specialized forums and practice since 2007


3.Whats the best advice you ever got,or heard or read?

Tournaments: When you have to make a desesperate move with a very low M, do it with an ace in hand.


Cash games: "I can have anything at any time" (doesn't mean by far that one should play everything, or randomly)


In general: Never do anything too often: vary your game before you are readable (or "just about when")


And addressed to me personally: "keep it simple and straightforward" lolol (a tendancy to overinterpert other's motives)



4.What do you love most about the game?

Concentration. It's like a high.



5.What was you proudest,most exciting moment so far?

Winning tens of thousands of rupees against local mafia don's in North India.

I was young and reckless and there were all the clichés one could hope for: personal bottles of whisky, armed guards, some had their personal guns, etc.

And after winning you had stacks and stacks of banknotes, like you had just won a million bucks.

Had excellent runs quite a few times, but one night I broke out the bank. I'll never forget it. Paid for my full year there...


6.What would your advice be to a new player?

Study, and not from your buddies but from a selection of top players. Most of them are not there by chance (hansen, negreanu, harrington, ...)

Make sure you know why you make every move you make, not according to your own rationalizations, but in relation to objectivable poker strategy (which has a base in statistics. Of course it's not the alpha and omega: it simply starts there... but anyone overlooking this will be a long term bleeder).


And also, despite what you read sometimes on the forum here, not every play is good, far from it. Having a vague idea of things doesn't amount to strategy.

There are recurring mistakes in your game (as in mine) and if you study you will identify them progressively and work them out.

I personally hold that the more you understand about the game, in finer nuances, the more intense fun you have.

Learned the basic rules from 5 card draw poker with friends at school..Then one night in the pub I was asked to play 7 card holdem..it was so much simpler than having to keep changing cards as you do in 5 card draw.I soon got hooked on it.

2.How did you learn to play?
learned the hard way at first..so I read a couple of books and started to realise there is more to it than first meets the eye.

3.Whats the best advice you ever got,or heard or read?
Don't ever stake what you can't afford to lose. Be fearless in your heart but careful in your head. Never play for money when you're drunk.If you always play to win then you can still lose, but if you never play to win then you'll always lose.

4.What do you love most about the game?
The thrills and spills and a good battle of wits.Its always nice to win a bit of cash too.

first time i called a bluff in a cash game and won. we were only playing with £10 each on the table but it was still a buzz because I was getting
pushed off by the same guy for ages.He went all in after the river and I only had a pair of 8s.I called him and he had been bluffing.

take the bad beats in your stride, they're as much a part of poker as they are of life... no whingeing.
