Default The November 9

Having just finished watching the wsop 2011, the final 9 have been decided for November.
I think Ben Lamb has been playing a really good and tricky game throughout the whole tournament. He's definately not afraid to make plays and usually times them perfectly... so he's definately one of my favourites to win. I dont think staszko will hold on to that chip lead
I also think that if makiievsky (however u spell that ) manages to double up, he can also be a threat...

So who do you think is gonna bring home the title?

sad that any thread BUT poker takes off, but a solid thread like this fizzles instantly. I have DVRed WSOP 2011 and have been watching it as I get time. I just finished all but the final 3 (which didn't record because my box recorded all the s*** with Joe Paterno instead).

I think it's well worth discussing, but I can easily see it dying just as quickly as last time.

You game, Teebs? You seen it yet?

Seen it.... Re-seen it lol. Was a great final table really.

You can watch the whole final table here Duke. ThePokerAces's Channel - YouTube

So who was your pick to win Duke, at the start of the final table?

at the start hands down ben lamb. phil collins was up there for me, but in my opinion from the get go played piss poor. I think Heinz was too loose (and honestly Ben too, but I think Ben did it more smartly). Maybe Heinz is some genius, but saw him just getting lucky.

Biggest reaction from the first 6 elims is Matt Gianetti. I feel he might have even played TOO tight, but at the rate everyone else was I think that's smart. He really just got unlucky twice against Ben Lamb. Stazco's hit or miss for me. Lamb is solid (but not solid enough to have done that well... think his luck helped a lot). And Heinz I think is just a big luck sack too. I don't think he's terrible. He definitely deserved to finish well, but not first in my opinion (unless Gianetti could have successfully taken Lamb out, in which case I think it could have easily been Gianetti and Heinz heads up. In this match up I think Heinz would have won.)

Actually in general once Heinz HAS a stack and esp HU against someone, it's like being against Ivey or Hansen. I think he's good. Just luck was a crutch too.

OK that's much more then 2 cents. What is your post game analysis?

agree there Duke..the luck factor..my money on Ben Lamb..Hes playing reasonably well but i think luck is with him as well and you need that to ride you thru..so with this combination he seems good to back..In terms of strategic play Ben may not be the best on this table..but then again nor was Jimmy Gold..

Pretty much the same as you Duke.
I think Ben Lamb and Phil Collins felt like they would be able to boss the table a bit and that obviously backfired. Having said that I dont like the way Collins plays... and if you think Heinz is a luck sack, you shoulda seen Collins just before making the final table.
Im also disapointed at the way Sam holden played...fair enough he played a solid tight game to get to the november 9, yet i think he shoulda stepped up his game a little more and perhaps taken some more risks (especially being the short stack.)
As for Odea, the irish guy, I was impressed by the way he played and would have liked to see him win it. Whilst watching, I found it very hard to put him on any specific hands throughout...
One of the hands which I think he could've played better ( not saying he played it bad) was that hand vs Heinz, he was playing out of position, where he flopped the nuts (set of 10s). He checked it to Heinz who then took a stab at the pot... Odea tanked for like 2 minutes before calling, and obviously it went check check until the river. I think that a check raise(small raise) on the flop might have looked like he knew Heinz was bluffing and decided to raise bluff, thus maybe inducing a re raise from Heinz. Just my thoughts, but then again its easier when u can see the whole cards.
As for the heads up, yeh Heinz played it well eventhough I thought Stazko was the better player...made moves at the right time, etc.
Congrats to Heinz anyway, and a big well done to Ben Lamb who really had an outstanding year.

yeah I'd have about the same to say except that I think Phil Collins played pretty well leading up to November. He just took the weirdest lines at the final table. Maybe we'd have called it genius if it worked, but limping has been proven as bad play for years now. He didn't do much to turn that opinion around.

Wish I could have seen that heads up. I may follow that link and watch it online sometime. Now I'm catching up on my WPT recordings
