The tournies used to have a lot better prize chips and so did the sit and goes the mammoth is now out of many peoples reaches, the prize structure does need looked at or entrance lowered in my opinion. takes around 40 tournie wins now to get the entrance fee which while not impossible is bleeding hard with the quality of players we have now

Getting the Mammoth buy-in isn't impossible at all. Sit at the 5/10 rings with your 1k, start shoving all-in every hand. When you win, you should have about 5-6k. Move up to 25/50 tables, buy in for 5k and sit very tight. Pick a full ring table, because you will be paid off more if you have a hand and the blinds don't eat you. If you reach 25-30k that way, go to 250/500 tables and buy in for your whole bankroll. If you get a hand, raise very big pre-flop and try to get your chips in. If you double up, then again switch to very tight style. As I've seen, there are still very bad players at that limit, so I think if you play a good TAG style, you have a good chance of doubling up. Always play full ring though, when 9 or 10 people sit at a table, then at that limit there should always be a sucker who pays you off. At 150k, try playing two tables of 250/500. Play as often as possible, play full ring only and buy in for the maximum. At 200k-250k, start taking shots at 500/1000 tables, but only if there is a decent number of players at a table. Just grind, grind, grind the 250/500 tables. If you reach 400k, then you can take shots at the 2500/5000 tables. I recommend you to buy-in for the minimum and when you have a hand, just go all-in. It doesn't matter whether you lose or you win, quit after going all-in and go back to grinding the 250/500 tables.

You go busto a lot of times, but you can always reload and start again from the beginning. I think I'd get to 500k in about a month this way.

Just don't think that your opponents have a hand that has you beat that often. Play your top pairs with decent kickers very aggressively, even if there are 3 cards of the same suit there.

1)Sit at the 5/10 rings with your 1k, start shoving all-in every hand.

2)Move up to 25/50 tables, buy in for 5k and sit very tight.

3)If you reach 25-30k that way, go to 250/500 tables and buy in for your whole bankroll.

4)At 150k, try playing two tables of 250/500.

5)At 200k-250k, start taking shots at 500/1000 tables, but only if there is a decent number of players at a table.

6)Just grind, grind, grind the 250/500 tables.

7)If you reach 400k, then you can take shots at the 2500/5000 tables.

And remember:

1. Don't think that your opponents have a hand that has you beat that often.

2. You go busto a lot of times, but you can always reload and start again from the beginning.

Is this version better?

I see what your saying mate but there is not a hint of bankroll management in there, which in my opinion is the key to long term success.

It took me ages, and I mean ages, to get enough chips to enter my first Mammoth. And as frustrating as it was I felt a sense of achievement at having finally earned enough to enter. Went out really early LOL but that's another story.

I agree it's harder to earn the chips through tourneys now because of the lack of them and poor payouts.

You could try what Sig suggest Darcy, you might fast track things, but don't lose sight of the longer view. Going back to zero once you've managed to get to half a mil is hard mate. Been there, done that, like a lot of others have.

Either way good luck to ya bud.

Yup, there is not any bankroll management there, but there isn't any bankroll management in using all of your bankroll to buy in to one single tournament too. And if that is the case, then why not go all the way like that?

As i have mentioned b4
(on several occasions, almost everychance a topic like this comes up )
i would like to see some lower buy in heads-up sit and gos
currently 30k is the lowest HU game
5k or even 10 k would be nice
its a nice intro to the higher HU sngs
as for the mammoth, ive played twice
takes me a while to get enough to play
not that lucky at bingo and then those grrrrr rivers
i have enough to play again , but will wait dont want to use my whole bank on one tourney so build ur bank and try to remember money management
try the sngs too, u can get some good chips in the heads up plays
