Default poker- stimulant or relaxant?

I started playing this to relax- now I am so into it that I find I go to bed quite wired and thinking of hands and rivers and broken dreams and big wins.
What's your experience?

I would have to say a relaxing stimulant. I have been on this site since early December, and I am just now getting to the point where I can play a tournament or two, then get up and accomplish other things around the house. In the beginning, however, I pulled many all-nighters here.

Hi,
I'd say on the whole, poker is a stimulant. Especially whilst im playing my game. On the other hand, the over all effect, after a few very stimulating games, is a total 100% relaxant. Heh i'm that relaxed at times i fall sleep whilst i'm playing (see my previous thread about falling sleep on the job, lol)

ps. stimulated at present, lol

Depends on who your playing with. If Grandma and Grandpa are at the table talking about the good old days, and your beating their pants off because they think every hand is a winner, then sure you'll be bored to death. But if your hanging with some college buddies playing on New Years with a 20$ buy in, then its going to be a blast!!!

I think i would more describe it as exillarating for the most part. especially when your fighting for a large pot.
