Default Proper playing pledge

I am relatively new to poker and it seems I have done alright sometimes playing cards i shouldn't have but in general getting by. However then i came across i certain post by probably the most famous OP66 player danzi. It was about people no longer playing properly and just gambling with nothing hands I though about this for a moment and pledged to myself that i would be patient and play properly and to the best of my ability always.
My first attempt at this i came across the exact cas that danzi was talking about; a person who would go all in no matter what get lucky and be all high and mighty about it he was leading but then he lost...Predictable. In my first attemt i only went into the pot with playable cards and folded bad ones with a clear conscience. I didn't come first but does that mean i am a bad poker player or that this system won't work (keeping in mind that playable cards are adapted as player's are eliminated) no it just means that the cards weren't with you this time but that is poker eh? Next time i did this i placed second and felt that my efforts were fufilled now after reading this i urge you to play proper poker and post your pledge in this thread. I also must thank Danzi, Jediknight and robblepop for there posts and play have been an incredible influence on me.

P.S it is alright to take a risk in some positions just don't
let yourself slip and become a bingo player.
(a special thanks to robbielepop for setting me on the right track)

I've done that. Only lost to one guy the whole time. knocked 8 of the 9 playing against me and took second. It's quite fun and fun reading thier reactions. But playing with people like that is still better than playing with someone who folds 30 hands in a row!

Nice post my friend. You are on the right track, but the trick is to vary your play. Sometimes its worth a peek at the flop if there are a lot of limpers in. Its these situations where if you are clever then you can double up if you hit a monster and its not the normal sort of hand you play. This works particularly well if you have just folded 27 hands in a row (not 28 tho because this is apparently seen as unreasonable!)

Cheers

Mac

Thanks mac and i completely agree playing by the numbers is good but sometimes if it's a resonable but not playable hand a little peek won't hurt eh? and sometimes you get lucky and it helps you bring home the money.

Personally I am not playing the fast tables any more.. its Poker Jim but not as we know it..

Not enough time to chose an amount to bet. I like to put a lot of though into how much I bet and there just ins't the time for it. When the site was more lightly loaded it was just about OK but with all the lag its impossible. I have won loads of chips on them in the past (including beating Bazultra twice.. sorry Baz,, but I am proud of this)

Cheers

LMAO, but then I do like a bit of sarcasm. I was going to respond to the other thread, but saw it had already reached 4 pages and couldn't be bothered to read through all of it.

Seriously, apart from etiquette and "basic" skills, if someone could define what "PROPER POKER" is, I'd be interested to see it.
