Question Saying "I'm all-in"

I believe this is within the rules of a live game but I'm not sure it is ok online.

I'm at a table but its not my turn yet.
If I say "I'm all-in", is it:
Bad table etiquette?

Against the chat rules?
Fair play?
OR
Something I have not thought of.

I have only said this pre-flop but I suppose it could be used at any stage during the hand.

I say it all the time. Sometimes I do it, sometimes I don't. I use it as a form of bluffing or just playing around.

If it's legal in real poker, I don't see why it couldn't be here.

Hmmm, not sure in a live game that it would be ok to say it and not do it, I think the dealer could just take your chips from you and put them in the pot.

Think has to be said only on your turn so would feel its against the rules to say it out of turn. Think your right lfc sure invite for trouble.

Bad table etiquette, good only for bingo players and idiots,,,,or is allowed if you have had 2 bottles of tequila chased with room temp vodka. We all know who the good players are, sometimes you bet to bluff and you have the chips to loose if called. There are a handfull of players that it is only a matter of time before the good ones take them out. "Even a blind squirrel will get a nut". I play as if i were on a live money table. Have fun all, I do, and I enjoy the good players around me.

I personally don't chat about my hand until after the event and even then only if I feel I was unlucky. Many players say, bye all I'm all in before they do it but not halfway round the table circuit. I think to use it as a tool before anyone else as bet on a hand is bad form. On here it is mostly done when a player is down to rock bottom in chips and is having a bad run. I'm not fast enough on the text to do it lol, so it doesn't apply to Dozy Old Gits.

dont think iv ever said im all in but i do often say something like "o well gl me" that i gess has the same meaning and yes it is done to try to stop someone befor me entering the pot so it probable is bad table etiquette at the least if not aganst the rauls as you wouldent be able to do this in a live game
ps i think the same would aply to "its yoda time" as when i say "o well gl me"

After reading comments and looking at the poll i've come to the decision of continuing with this style of play (when needed).
When needed? well, I think it can be a good tool to pull from the box when:
At a loose table where
I am not low stacked (more than 10BB's), holding a premium hand which is likely to be called by a x3 x4 x5 pre flop bet (from a number of calling stations holding junk) and there are limpers or minimum bets.
Low stacked (close or less than 10BB's) at a table of all or mainly larger stacks, who could be in the hand before it gets to my turn and would likely call my all-in because they have already commited chips to the pot.
I just want to steal the blinds from a tight table.
To tilt a few players.

After saying that, i couldnt see any reason for doing it in a free chip game (
I agree, that would be bad table etiquette) because i just see these games as fun and not as a fully competative cash game. Hmmm, perhaps i should have clarified that at the start of the thread.

I think some people see it as against the rules of the game but i dont see it that way at all (it was a pro poker player that explained this rule to me in the first place). A spoken word in a live game is the same as a physical action. If i say "fold", "call", "raise" or "all-in" then that would be picked up on by the dealer or other players as my action, despite whether it is my time to act or not.

Thank you everybody who has posted or voted.
Hopefully, I will get a few more views, suggestions and votes on this topic.

i believe if u declare out of turn or not, that ur all in,theres no goin back,ur all in. in a live real money game. even if u say raise, u must, and theres always a minimun.
here i would think since it could effect the hand,if ur out of turn,u shouldnt say anything.
if i say all in and to in front of me fold cuz of that, that gives the players behind me a better chance, when they see im not all in.and they would be pissed if they would have one.

This is a bit off topic, but often if someone I know go's all in and im the only person left to call, I sometimes say gl just to make em sweat a while, then of course if Im holding nought I will fold. But in answering your question pete I have often come across this sort of behaviour at the table and even though its not nice to see I personally dont have a problem with it. Having said that I would have to agree that its bad table etiquette. Steve.
