Angry suck outs, filthy calls and a lack of respect..

Once opon a time i could play the OP tournies knowing i was going to have a good game whether i had a good result or went out to a bad beat. But lately im not getting that feeling anymore, mainly due to seeing too many awful calls leading to dirty suck outs.

What seperates this site from the rest is the fantastic community and friendly banter. Which, fortunately, still exists.

However, the other thing that seperated the site from the rest was the way we all played poker. We all played with respect for others. We played as though it was for real money. But recently that style of play has decended into a form that i can only say resembles a school play ground. total chaos as soon as the bell goes.

You have those who will always get through play time with no trouble at all. Then you have the bullies. These we can handle because the bullies never win. And then we have loose canons who run riot whenever possible. The idea of raising three times the blinds doesnt compute. Its all-in or nothing. Which leaves us with those who hug the wall desperate to get a peice of the action. These are the ones who make silly calls.

bassically what im saying is, because of the way some people play now, it has taken away that sense of realism. Even the chance of getting a gold medal doesnt seem to mean anything to some people anymore.

Anyways, im of to play some poker and call a reraise with my 7 2 and win with a fullhouse two's over seven's

I love seeing this. We truly did play as if it were real money... and that was when they were still called PLAY chips... Seems that "practice chips" should revert back to it's old name. I can't imagine trying to learn how to play now.

That said, there's not much to do but laugh about it and hope that when you give in and play your bad hand, because we all do it eventually, you feel a little sorry for the 7 2 full house that beat pocket Aces

When I first joined this site, it had different level tables for different players. There were Newbie tables, Novice tables and Expert tables. It seems if we could return to some form of that it might make things better for everyone concerned. Another thing, the limitless rebuy gives no one incentive to play properly. You can keep going all-in with no fear of losing. Maybe if we went back to limited rebuys, it might control some of the Bingo players a little. Just a suggestion.

in the op tournies the dealer still seems to select a player and give them continuous winning hands, when im chosen it gets embarrassing as you call with anything and hit.

I must admit i was a bit niffed.

I rarely, if ever, loose my rag on the tables. But what i saw really did push me. And i still stick by with my view that the OP tournies dont have that premium status like they use to when i first started here.

Nevertheless, thank you all for the comments made on the subject. After reading the replys, it makes me realise that you cannot have any control over what decisions people want to make.
Furthermore, i really appreciate the nice comments some of you have said about me.

thank you all.

fut.

My view on this is that there are (and was) to many practice chips generated from the credit system, Outlaws and no TAX.

Just like inflation, it lowers the real value of the chip. It has no value when it can be reloaded......but, we have complained about this in the past on pit's site with many bingo players abound. Maybe that has rubbed off on to many of us OP players as well.

A lot of good valid points posted here.

The number of chips floating around the site devaluing them is a good one. And the no reload limit is another.

The impression that the dealer has picked 'you' for this game and no matter what you can't miss. I've had that twice now, and yes it is almost embarrasing.

All inners, bingo etc, yes it's all part of the game, and can be beneficial to encounter some times, and yes the 'player' will win out in the long run. But the number of bingo players and the extent they are infiltrating different area's of the site has become worse.

Whitewolf's points are good and I totally agree. I've posted the same elsewhere.

SimonLGreedy mentioned bumping into someone who raised for no 'rhyme or reason'. Well I know your a very good player Simon and even though you were referring to one particular incident that you encountered, I'm sure you would agree that there are situations where someone might raise when there seems to be no rhyme or reason. For example the position they have that hand, the stack sizes and an attempt to try and bluff/steal a pot. That is a valid and frequently employed legitimate tic tac in poker.

Your a good player Future and you will win out in the end but it can be a bit frustrating a times.

Just lately I've changed the way I play, been trying different things that I've see other do, or things I've read about. Just trying to mix it up so that I'm not so predicable. So if you see me on a table and I appear to do something odd that might be why...........er... it could also be because I just played stupid too LOL

I still reckon New site = Let's start again.
Zero chips for all, very limited reloads and table access dependant on bankroll, which in effect will mean dependant on experience, just as it used to be. Yea the 'gamblers' will still be on the lower level tables but the chances of them progressing to the higher levels within the site would be very slim. Any half decent player would soon be able to progress and if they are new to poker would learn along the way. All good fun and rewarding.

I'm agreeing with Jack here. I have been on both ends as we all have. But when you have AA then J-10 and then 7-5 and win on all 3 in a row it seams fishy if you ask me. But what do i know.

Future, my friend. What you describe, I feel, was always there.

I almost don't recall proper odds and balances ever being resected here (but at times only and that for the three scripts we have known) and surrealistic calls, raises or reraises have always been a trademark.

I certainly NEVER had the feeling we were playing as if real money was involved. Not by very far. And I also do not play at all like I usually do, for I know almost anything can happen here.

I regularly play all kind of money formats in both RL and online and none vaguely resembles the kind of games we have here (speaking mostly of big tournys, I rarely bother with cash tables and play an occasional S&G but it applies as well form what I have seen).

At some point (a year ago approx) I was frustrated with that and considered quitting playing here altogether. But I like the folks too much, so I come every now and then to play a tournament or the other, always with great pleasure.

And sometims there are even good surprises poker-wise...

I am so frustrated too, used to really, really enjoy the op tournies, and now it's just another bingo table. Where did all the fun and respect go that we used to have on these tables. Don't mind the raise pre flop but this all in crap is really getting to me. Why don't these players go play on the bingo tables and leave the op tournies to those of us that just want to play a GOOD game of poker!!!oh!!!grrr!! Could name them but am sure they already know who they are! Darn give us a break and go play the bingo tables!!
