Default Titans.......not for the ladies.

I never thought i'd hear myself say this, but i take my hat off to the guys for the game they played tonight in Titans.
They knew how to play as a TEAM......

I know this is gonna sound harsh, and i'm not a bad loser, but the best team by far won the tourney tonight in my eyes.
Some of the 'ladies' had no idea on the term of 'team play', and were out to beat anyone at their table, at whatever cost, i dont care if this makes me sound harsh, bitter, sad anything, im just ashamed to have been part of it.

I'm not a great player, but i know how to play as a team, and i know i folded quite a few winning hands to 'help the cause', only for it to be squashed!!!

Count me out on the 3rd and descisive match, unless some players get their act together.....and fast.

i have to agree with these points i'm afraid. Although i sucked bigtime tonight, it gave me a chance to observe all tables and the boys seemed to know how to look after eachother and survived while we knocked eachother out....
we need to think again ladies for the next one as we were soundly beaten tonight.. xxx shirl xxx

I can understand your predicament crinkle, it is a completely different game plan when playing as a TEAM on the same tables as your teammates.
Although i agree that the mens team did play a great game tonight, there was a few who were there for the glory and not the team, a few reminders during the game helped calm and remind the TEAM of the point of the tourney.
I really hope it wont put you of playing again, as in my eyes i think the ladies team would really miss a great player as yourself.
You bring a lot more than your card skill to any table, and it is always a pleasure to be in your company at any table.
Well played tonight and always
Much Love
Declan

if i could just throw my 2 cents in here...( although I'm no TITAN )...

POKER IS AN INDIVIDUAL SPORT... ( ONE of the many reasons i LOVE the game ) : each PERSON is responsible for their OWN fortune and actions,, and it is EACH person against the rest of the TABLE.

TEAM POKER , to me, just makes noooo sense at all,, and leads to pitfalls much like the one described here

All in all a great game to play and to watch! I love seeing all the cheer leaders on the final table!

Quite correct MrC, i think the international tourney organised by jimmysymtex was a much better concept, were 5 team members played against other teams on seperate nights one team member per night, a lot less confusion at the table, were you played against every other player on the night.

Unfortunately I find myself having to agree with you Crinkle

I never thought I'd say this but I was ashamed to watch my team tonight.

I saw the mens team play as a team without having to remind each other of the definition of the word 'team'

The fact that it is a team event is what makes the Titans so different. The experience is one which I have now experienced on the winning and losing side.

I'd rather lose knowing that the girlies played as a team, unfortunately its a double wammy tonight we lost and didn't play as a team..........I am left with the explanation that we lost because we didn't play as a team.

WELL DONE GUYS, a well deserved win xx

sorry...i have to agree...just let me congratulate the lads first..well done...
ok back to the thread...i'm with crinx, theres no point in having a team tourney if that is how team members are going to play...if these people had not been playing, then i know we would've done a lot better. i'm not a happy puppy at all...i watched one person alone take out 5 of our team...UNECESSARILY!!!!...bad...sorry...just bad....i dont mean to be horrible, and i know that the person knows that i mean them...but seriously...W...T...F...???????????????

Oh Damn I din't realise it was team play I thought it was all on all and the best team would be the ones at the end ... In saying that I apologise for going all in against a few of the men a couple of times I(namely Telboy who was short stacked anyway, really sorry mate , I feel a right arse now ), I wasn't trying to be non teamy I just thought we were all against eachother

My bad....

i agree with crinkle, this was a team event and i folded one good hand after another when another girl bet. After a while watching the betting I thought what the heck. We have to play as a team not for individual chips. Could have made it further but saw no point in taking another team mate down. Wish all felt that way. four girls that i counted were taken down by other girls just ask hondr. So sad.My hats off to the gents who in turn played great as a team. I too not interested in playing another if they want to play individually. crinkle went all in and instead of others folding they took her out, pfff!

Superb game again.
Happy with my own game, vast improvement on last time, dont feel like i let the lad down this time out.
1 - 1 and pride restored amongst the lads
Brilliant final table, thought the game would go on al night.
Well done to all who took part and all the cheer leaders watching the final table, great banter and proper OP66 spirit.
Bit dissapointed at those who said they would play but never registered,a better show next time me thinks.
Agree with crinkle about the team play, was some individual play from both sides.
I dont think the game was helped by the strange table seating at mid-point,i dont think ive ever seen a all male, all female split like that b4.
Nice set-up now for the 3rd game.

yeah, we are all against eachother...but the way the tables were made things a bit awkward, we had nine girls and one lad...the lad folded constantly...our aim is to get him out...not take eachother out to win a non-existent gold...which is what i saw tonight...

Crink most of us tried, but we were put on a table with 8 ladies together, with I boy leaving us too it mostly, then as the game went on each time we got new peeps it was mostly girls, tried to help when someone was low and not getting to low myself. I think if the tables were equal it could have been a better tourney for all. xxxx

I tried to play for the team, but it is just not possible to play poker that way. I found myself folding perfectly good hands because a team member made a good bet to find out later that I had him beat. Just can't play poker like that. It is an individual game.

Still have to recognize crinkle that it is a tie. Ladies got one and men got 1. The real winner is the group as a whole. Don't take it all too seriously. there is no way you can determine who is the best by running a few tournaments. In this game the winners are determined by short term luck and long term skill and it is very difficult to measure either.
