titans what next

hi i have enjoyed both these comps,the banter before the tactics on the tables and the support of those who did not make the teams,thats what makes op66 the best poker site friends having fun playing a game we all love,must say this format goes against what poker is about each person on there own playing against the table,but we have had some fun and would like to see it continue,but think we might need to tweak it a bit,what if points was awarded just to those who make the final table do you think less team play would come into it with all trying to make the final table let me know just ideas please and if some thing good comes up the captains can decide
also i thought when we moved the invite set up was going to change so if there is a chance to book 5 tables that can be allocated to allow an even split on tables might work?

Tel, the Titans tourney is your baby..and it is a fantastic event that i would hate to see disappear. you and i both know how much effort and stress goes into getting it up and running. When you first suggested it, i remember you saying 'ok sal pick 20 of your best players'...this then turned into 25. I will be honest here, picking the team for last nights tourney was ridiculous, there is never 25 girls on at one time! Tracey as captain had a terrible struggle with timezones etc...i have suggested on another thread that it should be lowered to 'the best 10 players' maybe even 5, as i found myself pming EVERY lady who plays here, not just who Tracey thought was a half decent player...there just isnt enough girls on here to pick such a huge team...which to be honest, in my opinion, is why last nights tourney became such a free-for-all. i saw a suggestion for a sitngo table to be used...maybe this wouldnt be a bad idea..two tables can be filled with 5 of each sex using our own discretion...this way we can control who sits where...?

ok, if we want a smaller final poker comp, how about havin 2 quallifing tourneys. 1 for boys, 1 for girls. maybe unlimited entrants for each. top 5 from each make the final. this way, no captain is needed, and is fair for all...

thanks sal and jimmy like both these ideas,maybe a qualify for men and the ladies played on seperate days on the invite with top five from each meeting on a sit n go ,need feed back from all it is our tourny but for all players.

i like jimmy's idea, where there's a ladies qualifier and a gentlemen's qualifier, top 5 from each event goes to the final... trouble is, would points still be allocated, or will it be a winner takes all thing, being only 5 from each team int final?

The qualifier is a gr8 idea, as it gives every one a chance to enter too!

but can we still have shrooms and tigergirl as captains? even if its just to allocate who goes on what table...seems a shame to stop it now that they have this chance...sorry...i'll shut up no, i wont i like the idea of having a captain it gives them a chance to get involved and lets others know that theres someone to go to if theres a prob...

PLUS!!! us girls play in a single sex game every week anyway...wheres the fun in that??

I did not get to play and many others I talked to wanted to play. Why not have a "titans open" and take points from end result?

how about, the 2 previous winners automaticly qualify. ie, tiger and shrooms. then the 4 more for each team are from qualifiers?

sorry but i hate the idea of qualifyers,.. the escence of the titans is that a group of players who usually play against eachother can come together for a 1 off TEAM event in which we support and help our team mates. It is a little like the ryder cup in golf where individuals put aside their usual single minded game and play for eachother.....yes it is unusual for poker players to help eachother as is the case in golf.
by making qualifyers, all ladies and gents will be trying to beat eachother at all cost to reach the final team and this spoils what the titans is all about.
the numbers need to be cut this is true but the team captain chooses players hopefully on merit or by form.
this is about boys versus girls not about girls /boys verses girls/boys before the titans tourney....it was my idea to use the sit and goes to even the 5 each split and i stand by it... xxx shirl xxx

A qualifier would be seen as more fairer i think, to all the ppl who are not normally invited in...if they wish to show their worth, let them enter the qualifier with us all, and i'm sure the cream of the crop will rise to the top- being worthy entrants to the final

Either that or shirls idea, have S&G's up for our own discretion and enter 5 of each sex in- there could be more than one of these, and we could have a stratified points system to tally up the scores per gender

i agree with shirl.it was hard for me last night and im gutted that everyone is falling out.i did however think that there was enough women players but hey i made a quote once "women shouldnt think"and i should of remembered it.sit n go is the best way as then we dont get the same thing as last night where there was 8 women to 1 man on a table.

Hmmmm....I guess that would count me out. I was asked only at the last second to join. Obviously only because I'm a female and the team was short handed, not good enough for the team?

Seeing as I've only recently started playing tourneys, and I haven't had much of a chance to play against all of you.....

breezy...do me a favour and dont even start...there has been enough trouble over this tournament...YOU ARE IN A DIFFERENT TIMEZONE...DO NOT ACCUSE ME OF BEING HURTFUL....the tournament is held within UK evening hours...therefore most of the team selected is british....I AINT EVEN GUNNA ENTER A SLANGING MATCH WITH YOU.

I personally would like to see at least 10 players from each side, that way, at least your gonna create more interest and dont forget your dropping 80% off both teams. That for me is a lot of big name players and theres gonna be a lot of dissapointmen because this tourney means a great deal to so many...steve..

As for the original topic, I had fun the hour I was in. And I would be willing to do it over again if it was scheduled for a Tuesday (I'm off) so I can stay longer.

I agree with Tracey on the sit & go idea. 5 men, 5 women. The table I played at had 9 women and one man, kind of hard to post and fold constantly for an hour until more men showed up....especially when you have a great hand.
