Default trying to ride out a bad run

Right now I'm trying to ride out a bad run I do'nt know if you would call it luck or bad play, I get good starting hands AA,KK,QQ and ect. but when I get called I loose to 3of a kind , straights, or flushes.I know thats poker, but it is starting to get to me and make me question my style of play. I never have thought that I was the best player at the tables, but I did think I brought a prety good game to the table now I'm starting to question that.I have tryed to councle others on this matter and I tell them to be paishent and it will come, but thats a lot easyer to say than to do ,for now I will try to ride it out and hope my chips will last.
Whats your thoughts on this subject??

I know exactly what your talking about. This week has been the worst for me. I get great starting hands.....but they NEVER follow through. Over the last week and half or so I have lost about 6 million. I have questioned if I should continue playing or take a break. But I love playing so I'm just hanging in there for now. Good luck to you pushy, and you are a great player. Don't give up, we are in this together.

i've had my share of tough beats and losing with AA or KK. it sucks. i've even gotten up to $1,000,000 and back dwon to $0 in the matter of a week. i too have questioned whether i'm a good player or not. or whether my style of play has got something to do with. what i do to stay sane is to take a day off of playing. then start back up and take it easy. join a low buy-in mini-tourney and just have fun.

hope your luck changes mate. i would enjoy to play against you because i like to think that i'm pretty good too

As long as you are getting good cards, keep playing. And yes, be patient. Being patient sometimes makes you an unpredictable player. If you sometimes just check with queens and win, players may start to wonder with future hands “Is he just sucking me in again”, or “ I do not know if he is bluffing or what”. Being patient means “Do not play bad hands” and “Do not play out of position”.

Everyone has been beaten when they had aces. It is likely that you have beaten aces with a lesser hand. BUT beware aces will win the majority of the time.
Please see chart below:
COMMON ALL-IN HAND MATCH-UPS - % WIN PROBABILITY
AK vs 76 suited AK wins 60%
AK vs QJ AK wins 64%
AK vs 22 22 wins 51%
AK vs KQ AK wins 73%
AK vs AA AA wins 87%
AK vs KK KK wins 66%
AQ vs KQ AQ wins 70%
AQ vs QJ AQ wins 70%
AQ vs KJ AQ wins 60%
AT vs KQ AT wins 58%
AA vs KK AA wins 80%
AA vs 22 AA wins 80%
AA vs 76 suited AA wins 77%
A2 vs JT A2 wins 55%
KK vs K2 KK wins 90%

If you wanna be good in Holdem - you must train yourself to wait and wait and wait...

Most professional poker players are tight players. So try this: fold anything but blinds and higher pairs. Then stun them with alluva sudden All-in - if Tourney is about 20k or higher - good chance they fold - and you stel their blinds. Always worked for me (now i'm about 4,5 mils). Major point - wait a really good hand and go all-in b4 flop.

I do not agree with, "wait for a good hand and go all in before the flop" That might work occasionally, but you know as well as I do that it is not a good play. I am also having a very bad run. The worst ever. You just have to ride it out.It helps a little to play extremely tight. It hasn't worked yet for me, but I believe it will in the long run. I will be so glad when this bad, awful, terrible, run is over. Don't give up Pushy1 it too shall pass. Smiles to you..........

when i'm having a bad run i just unplug and go read a book now. mostly when i lose my chips it's from trying too hard to recoup my losses. accept that either the cards are against you, or your mind is pre-occupied by other things. cut your losses, unplug, chill, and come back refocused.

Hmmmm, some real bad advice on this thread.
I accept everyone plays differently but with AA, KK or QQ a pre flop bet of three times the blind is required to stop hands like 10,7 hitting trips, runs or even flush if suited.

you have to try and get the people that don't have anything out of the hand before the flop when you have good pocket cards like that. Really comes down to chip strategy if you know what i mean. Although alot of people still call you with crap hands. That's just how it goes sometimes.
