Default What would you do? vol.2

Last week's hand:

It's the late stage of an OP66 daily tournament. The blinds are 500 and a 1000. 4 players are left in the tournament, you, a big stack and two short stacks.

UTG has 4,000 left
You on the button have 30,000 left
SB, the bigstack has 35,000 left, so 34,500 after posting the blind.
BB also has 4,000 left, so 3,000 after posting the blind

So here is the hand:

UTG folds, you have 99 and decide to put the shortstack on the big blind all-in, so you make a raise to 4000. SB decides to move all-in and the shortstack folds. So, what do you do in this situation? You haven't got much reads on SB, because it has been a fun final table with a lot of talk, so you haven't really noticed him. You have seen one strange call by him though, two short stacks went all-in before him and he decided to call with J7 off suit.

So, what would you do here? Call or fold?

My answer: I would make the call. We already have a lot of money in the pot, so if the opponent has two overcards, we have got our money in good.

Last week the answers were split, we had 4 folds and 4 calls. Plus Mr.Slick won 200,000 forum credits for giving the best answer. He went a bit more detail than the others in my opinion.

200k is available this week too!

---------------------------------------------------

This week's hand:

It is the first hand of an OP66 daily tournament. You are on the BB and hold AJ off suit. UTG decides to go all-in. It is folded around to you. You have never seen this player. Call all-in or fold?

Without a doubt....i fold. Not willing to risk my tourney life on the first hand. Even if i had AA/KK i would still fold as we have seen sooooo often players going all-in with 7/2,8/2 whatever and getting lucky. Not waiting 6 hours to play the tourney only to be bombed out first hand...IMO

Second hand is different though

what am i playing for? An OP gold, a huge payout or a regular 20c double up??
if its majorly important to me then i fold, and stay in the game, if not i'll call with my 99 and hope to stay lucky...really decisive answer huh?

OK, key facts... 1st hand... everyone has folded... it's heads up... but the key, "you've never seen this player before". I am going to read "bingo man" and I will make the call. It will be nice to get out early with a double-up. Sure, he could be holding a high pair (AA, KK, QQ), or even a low-pair... but I'm stuck on "I've never seen him before", and I'm going to risk the tourney early and go for it... yes, risk, but considerable reward (early chips advantage).

Cheers!

The way i see it the SB has counter raised you, i like to get a read by the time it takes him\her to place that bet did he\she not hessitate in placing it like maybe immediately or had he\she to think..The chances are he\she has a good hand going over the top on you even if he had K\Q K\J A\10 or the likes he has a big chance of hitting and with that id have to say id fold..

ok the player that has shoved all in UTG first hand is obviously a very loose player that wants to gamble right away, so he could be holding anything. i would probabley call this player with AJos because u are most likely to be infront in this situation..

Hmmmm, this is a difficult one he he, seeing as I have never played this person before and would have no read on him other then my first impression I would fold ace jack. Also I hate ace jack for me it rarely ever hits unless I get really lucky. It is like ace king(the anna kornokova, looks good but rarely wins). I am not about to risk my whole tourny the first hand.

ok, as its an op66 daily torny it might be a player i already know. and if it was someone who i regard as a fairly tight player i'd most defo fold. however, if it was a player who i knew was a fairly loose player the decision would be harder to make. But lets go with a player i dont know; AJos is not a hand i would call all-in 1st hand of a tourny. doubling up at thsi stage i feel wouldnt necessarly put me in a better position within the field at this early stage. so for me, based on the fact its the first hand of the tourny and its a player i dont know, its a fold.

great question. comon situation in a freeroll. but your not talking freeroll.( in a freeroll i would call).but in the case, with all the good players in our turnys,i think i would fold.then i would try to keep tabs on that player,to see how else he/she plays. in a turny there are lots of opportunities, another one should come. so bide your time, try to get to know him/her for the next time !! maybe u will know them by then. and most of us do know each other, hate to be first out hehehe almost as bad a forth last and just miss the medle. and i know ive been both lol.
