I'm a mum to a 17yr old 'no it all' brat of a teenager, Zak. I can tell you with all the peer pressure he's under, eg. drugs, alcohol, smoking and so on, i really wish i could get him to give playing poker a sideways glance never mind get addicted to it.
Especially starting out on a site like this where there is a massively high calibre of players, he would learn to play like any professional around at the minute. It's far far a healthier addiction than say drugs which can ruin your life indefinately or even stop your life dead in its tracks before you've had chance to say 'fold'. Who knows that sweet, self spawned human being could go on to earn a massively high income doing something they love rather than gaining exams after exams to find them selves in a job that they hate. I know what i'd take a gamble on, yeah, my son being the next todd brunson except he'd be far more fashionable, good looking and he'd smile occasionally. Poker should be encouraged but, as in anything, in moderation.
You can only advise your children what's best for them. They are unique individuals with minds set quite rigidly until there comes a time they actually listen to an adult.
