Default your style

hi all, been on a break from the free tables for the last couple of days been playing cash games and logging into forum.
on a very bad run of bad beats lately so ive took the time to go through my history to see where im going wrong.in my own opinion i play a very tight but aggresive game,im strickly a tourney player and im looking to change my game plan but find it hard on the free side mainly going out to chasers and bad luck or bad reads .
so this is where ive come to decide stay as i am,play the mammoth on saturday for a good tight game, and my elvis tourney for some fun.
read some great threads about player styles and would appreciate some sound advice from others how they see my game not looking to make many changes because i see luck more of a factor than skill on the free tables,so i might just have to wait for the poker gods to give me the break i need

Tel hope you don't mind me putting my view. Tough player to come up against but I think you can be read.. we haven't played that much together but you always seem to wait a long time for high cards and not much chancing done ( appreciate you don't like chancers ) but a calculated chance can increase your odds of winning.

You guard your pot fearlessly and when on game a tiger wouldn't stray near you.

You never play much to the river, when on form, and it appears that from what you are saying (correct me if I'm wrong) these bad beats occurring from players who take you to the river. You know the answers better than me secure the hand with a higher bet to stop them ( but if you know they will go there regardless) keep your bets low and accept a small win rather than a huge loss, until your stake is high enough to withstand a chance or two.

Hope that makes sense, no doubt the guys can put it more eloquently. Apologies if you think me out of place in commenting as I'm no great player myself.

I love to see you play and maybe players like yourself are coming across poorer players who are playing the chance game too many times, that I don't condone at all. However if your stake is going down then as Stern says it may require a chance or two to increase your pot.

Wish you would play in more tourneys with us as you used to, miss those greats pics!

Telboy - you have two things going for you that are very important. The first is patience and the second is the ability to resist chasing. If you bet I can count on you having a good hand. Your definitely not a mood player. That's part of the problem, predictability. Please note: I may be wrong. I am having difficult enough time analyzing my own game without looking at others.

I know you dislike bingo players and chasers but I think what you need to do is play a little bingo and chase a few hands. You will be surprised at what you will learn by mixing it up a little. Also might watch poker on TV. It seems that some of the best players play the worst poker - something to learn there, I'm sure.

Tel mate i really rate you as a player and one of the few who really understand all facets of the game, for me my humble opinion when your playing cash or on a table where your not known i can only admire your play...the patience of a saint and you play premium hands and push when you know your good, you will make a fortune..

But for me playing against you, beeing super tight makes you the easiest player type to read,il muck cards id usually play if your still to act..and your raises will make me run away from a growing pot.

But theres the thing...if you start switching your game now, like me (the bluffer) people you play with regualy wont know what hit them...dont tell anyone mate but i spent months and loads of chips to give a table image, and showed alot of cards which were dire, but know very few can read me now,so paid off...cept Roo sometimes

Best wishes mate and gl
